Hey, with all these B1G1F sales the BD camp has thrown in certain weeks to this date, how come the HD-DVD camp has not done the same thing? Though, they have drastically reduced their "players" cost considerably, but I am surprised their software has not been in the same line as the B1G1F deals from the BD camp? Anyone clarify this? Thanks.

I believe there was an HD-DVD BOGO on amazon recently.

I'm not complaining though, I hope that HD-DVD keeps their prices high on software.

That is pretty much how it has always been. Blu-ray gets more deals on the movies while HD DVD has the best deals for the players.

Already having a player, I love the deals on the movies. However, I think Blu-ray is shooting itself in the foot by not lowering player costs at least a few times for specific holiday shopping. The idea is to get these players into the hands of consumers and then they will purchase the movies. I will agree that the deals I've seen from Best Buy over the past couple months have been pretty smart (ie. buy an HDTV and get a Blu-ray / HD DVD player and some discs thrown in for free).

depends on what you consider to be a deal. I wouldn't spend $299 or even $99 on one of those pieces of crap. i'd much rather spend that kind of money on shock therapy for even considering such a thing. or maybe $100 on 100GRAND candy bars. they go great with blu-rays.

The main reason I am not format neutral is because I just don't have the money to support 2 formats at once and knowing eventually one of them will likely die out. I think a lot of people are way too harsh on HD DVD. Blu-Ray is the better format I believe but I also believe HD DVD is a strong product.
