That's a bit of a shock. Any idea which company is releasing?

anybody get this?
my copy should be here any day now.
gotta admit I'm a little surprised this release doesn't seem to have excited anyone other than myself.
I pretty much want any classic release from the 40's, and I've been wanting to see this film for a long time ever since I came across it on a bunch of great film lists I collect titles off of.

Still waiting on my copy too. Its so strange, as this shipment is once again taking over a month to arrive, while many of my other shipments are back to the 1-2 week window that used to be the norm. Still not sure what is going on fully with Royal mail... Oh well, will try to post some thoughts when it shows up and I can find time to check it out.

It's excited me!! Awesome ending.

Haven't ordered it...yet. There seems to be a shortage of reviews; the only ones I've found is this one

http://www.dvdactive.com/reviews/dvd/brighton-rock.html

Not the best of reviews, suspect the reviewer isn't that old...

and
here's a better one

http://www.dvdoutsider.co.uk/bluray/...n_rock_br.html

Let us know what you think guys. Don't post something like "Opened it this morning. Had beautiful slip case. Might play it in the next few years if I get the time." :-]

yeah I ordered a few single bds to check shipping times and I got one in just over a week.
this one is taking a little longer, but hopefully it won't take too much longer.

Nope, no luck here yet. It was shipped with my copy of Cracks though, so it may be because of the little bit larger package. Glad yours showed up though, that can only mean good things for my prospects as well, lol. Have you had a chance to check out the PQ/AQ yet?

It looks swell and it's a great movie. Well worth owning and especially with such a nice transfer.

I had my eye out for this movie. Might pick it up, you can't go wrong with Lord Attenborough.

no, haven't had a chance yet.
I'm trying to finish the ten commandments films, but I took a detour through "none but the lonely heart".
you ever seen that one?
really unique film.
anyway, I'm sure you'll get yours soon.

Anybody here in the U.S. able to get it to play on their all-region player? I tried it on mine, a Sherwood player, and even though I put in the regular code, it was a no go. I have had this happen only a couple of times.

So I'm bumping this to see if anyone can comment on the PQ/AQ of this release. It hasn't been reviewed on the site and the comments in the thread aren't conclusive. Obviously interested in the title given the news from yesterday, as I've not yet seen it.

PQ is generally much better than other old b&w films on blu-ray. Audio dialog is alright -- didn't notice any problems.
