So I have a number of UV movies from services like VUDU and Flixter. (Note that I'm Canadian so I don't officially get VUDU; I can only use it with a U.S. IP). I also have an account with CinemaNow, the other service Canadians can use.
Now the movies I have are HD copies. My internet isn't good enough to stream HD quality. I understand I can download the movies and watch them on my PC with each site's respective player, but is there any way to get them on my TV? I have a PS3, and can't use my Xbox 360 for it because apps require a subscription which I don't have. Apparently because of DRM I can't just pop a movie on a USB drive and put that in either my PS3 or my TV, which would be ideal. And even if I wanted to stream them, how can I do that? Flixter has no PS3 app, and CinemaNow has removed their app from the store. I think Cineplex is another option, but they have no PS3 apps either. I believe there might be a way to get VUDU on my PS3 via a workaround. It's kind of crazy how fractured and restricted ths is, for being advertised as "anywhere, anytime" and all that. Even if Blu-ray didn't have superior video/audio quality, there's no way I would come close to fully switching to this the way it is. I suppose if worst comes to worst I'll hook my PC up to my TV, but I'd rather not have to. |
