Wi-Fi: The cheaper players will need an expensive dongle but if your players next to your router or within cable-range you might prefer a wired connection. 3D: Do you want to watch 3D movies? Smart Features: If you're using your player and the internet, you may want to use it for catch-up services, or other streaming services like Amazon Instants, or Netflix. 4K Upscaling: If you're going to buy a 4K TV you may want to bridge the gap with a player that upscales your DVDs and Blu-rays. All Samsung players will upscale DVDs, they do it quite well. I'd post links but I'm not sure what region you're located in. |

If you're looking for DVD upconversion to 1080P, then pretty much all of them can do to this, with varying degrees of success. Without a budget it's difficult to recommend a player.
TBS, the Oppo BDP-103($499) is very good with it's QDEO chipset by Marvell, or you can get the Oppo BDP-103D[Darbee Edition]($599), but it gets rid of the QDEO in favor of the Darbee Visual Presence which also interacts with the video quality of Blu-ray playback. There are differing opinions on whether or not the Darbee is an improvement. I personally use a Darbee Darblet based upon the same technology. Both of these players are available in Region-Free varieties from several online retailers, for a slight premium($629 and $729, respectively). |

Thanks for the replys guys, sorry for posting in the wrong spot. I recently purchased a 46" Samsung UNF6400 led, so I already have the smart hub, 3d and wifi so really I just need a kinda basic unit. Somewhere in the 1 to 200 range. Not really going for a home theatre type all out setup just a good picture and sound from my enormous dvd collection. With the bluray capability as well. And as a side note I didn't really apreciate HD untill I got this tv. WOW the difference is amazing, kinda like me holding out on buying a smart phone thinking I didn't need all the bells and whistles lol.

No kidding! Someone should go to jail for writing that crap. If I were competing with Samsung, I'd run an ad that says "Samsung thinks that the proper way to watch a movie is by losing 25% of the image" and then showing other examples of devices and products losing 25% of themselves: a candy bar with 25% cut out, a car with 25% missing, a pair of pants with one leg cut off at the knee, etc.
