FAQ by jstxanothrxstory
Is the Deluxe Set limited to only 500 copies? No. The only set that is limited to 500 copies is the Deluxe Set WITH a lithograph that is sold exclusively through Shout Factory's website. The lithographs are now sold out. What does the lithograph look like? You can view a photo of the lithograph here. What are the differences between the standard boxset and the deluxe boxset? The deluxe box set will feature these additional five discs: -The 2007 release of the original Halloween, that features the full-length “A Cut Above the Rest” documentary. -The television cut of Halloween II on a DVD. -The producer’s cut of Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, that includes all of the additional features for the sixth entry. -The full-length making-of documentary for Rob Zombie’s first Halloween. -An additional bonus disc of archival material and new material crafted for this release. What region code will the discs be in? Region A. Shout Factory and Anchor Bay have confirmed that their rights are only for North America. Will each movie be in it's own case? The deluxe box set features each film in its own standard sized black blu-ray case with original theatrical artwork and a booklet, whereas the standard edition is housed in a regular 10-disc case. Is the box set released by Anchor Bay or Shout Factory? It is a co-production between the two studios. Shout Factory is handling all of the additional features, while Anchor Bay is handling distribution. Will Halloween be extended with the TV scenes added in or will the versions be separated? It will be the extended edition, not the TV cut. Will the TV Cut of Halloween be in HD and on Blu-ray? The extended edition will be on blu-ray on the 15th disc. However, all of the additional scenes are upscaled from 480p. Will Halloween have the original mono track? Yes. It will feature the ORIGINAL mono track and not the "mixed" version from the 35th Anniversary Edition. Is the TV Cut of Halloween II going to be in HD and on Blu-ray? The TV cut of Halloween II will be a direct port of the first Shout Factory released - housed on a DVD with the original screenplay included. The television cut of Halloween II was mastered in 480p, so an HD upgrade of it is impossible. Will Halloween 6, H20 and Halloween 8 have new remastered transfers different from the Echo Bridge releases? The Miramax titles will not feature new transfers created for this release, but Cliff from Shout/Scream Factory has confirmed they are not the Echo Bridge transfers. They will most likely be the transfers that Studio Canal has been using for their French and German releases. Will Halloween H20 be in its original aspect ratio? Yes. Will the Deluxe Set come with the Producer's Cut of Halloween 6? Will it be in HD? The producer’s cut will be in the deluxe set on its own disc with all of the additional features for the sixth entry. It will be on blu-ray, sourced from the original camera negative. Will the producer’s cut of Halloween 6/Shout’s release of Halloween H20 get its/their own release? Cliff has said that their licensing agreement with Miramax was only for a box set. With Echo Bridge’s licenses expiring, Lionsgate now owns the right to Curse, H20 and Resurrection, and they have the transfers that Echo Bridge had. Was there an audio commentary even recorded for H20 that was supposed to appear on the DVD, and will it appear on this set? Steve Miner has said that there was an audio commentary recorded for H20, but other people have said such commentary never existed. This box set will, however, feature a brand new commentary featuring Jamie Lee Curtis and Steve Miner, with Sean Clark moderating. Will the box set have the theatrical versions of both Rob Zombie's Halloween films? No. Both versions of the box set will only feature the unrated director’s cuts that were previously released. Cliff has confirmed that Sony only licensed out these versions. However, Alliance in Canada did release a blu-ray that contains both theatrical cuts. You can buy it on Amazon or eBay. Please note that the artwork on Amazon says unrated, but it is in fact the theatrical cuts. Will the 4.5 hour documentary from Rob Zombie's Halloween be included? It is included in the deluxe set, but not the standard set. Where is the bonus disc housed in the deluxe set? It is housed with Rob Zombie’s second Halloween film. Which discs are new to this set and which ones will be repressed? The following discs are new to this set: -The 35th Anniversary disc of Halloween will be a new pressing, as it features the original mono track and a new commentary track with Dean Cundy. -Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers will be a new pressing, as it drops the Halloween 4/Halloween 5 panel featured on the previous Blu-Ray release. The audio commentary with Alan B. McElroy is still missing. -Both discs for Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers will be new. -Halloween H20 will be a new disc. -Halloween Resurrection will be a new disc, as it contains the headcam featurette that was left off the previous release. -The bonus disc is created specifically for this set. The 2007 disc for Halloween is a port of the previous Anchor Bay release; both discs for Halloween II and Halloween III are ports of the previous Scream Factory releases; Halloween V: The Revenge of Michael Myers is a port of the previous Anchor Bay release; the two discs for Rob Zombie’s Halloween and the disc for his sequel are ports of the previous Sony releases. Does the version of the set being sold by Amazon.ca feature French text? No, there is only one unilingual set being produced. Will amazon.com match the converted amazon.ca price? Users have been having luck with this, but it is officially YMMV. Which additional features have been excluded from this set and which are new? You can view all of the features in this set here. From the releases in United States alone, the following features have been excluded: -Universal's Halloween II release contained a documentary entitled "Terror in the Aisles" that is not included here. -Halloween 4 is missing a commentary track with writer Alan B. McElroy (only available on the 2003 DVD release) and a discussion panel for H4/H5 (featured on the previous Blu-Ray release). -Halloween H20 is missing all of the features that were on its initial non-anamorphic DVD release. -The theatrical cuts of the Rob Zombie films. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Disc 1 – John Carpenter’s Halloween (1978) • HD transfer supervised and approved by cinematographer Dean Cundey • NEW Audio Commentary With Director Of Photography Dean Cundey, Editor Tommy Lee Wallace And The Shape, Nick Castle • Audio Commentary with Co-Writer/Director John Carpenter and Actress Jamie Lee Curtis. • “The Night She Came Home” Featurette • “On Location: 25 Years Later” Featurette • TV Version Footage • Television Spots • Theatrical Trailer • TV and Radio Spot 1080p Anamorphic Widescreen (2.35:1); Dolby TrueHD 7.1; Original 1978 Audio in Dolby TrueHD Mono Subtitles: English SDH, Spanish Disc 2 – John Carpenter’s Halloween (1978) (Exclusive to Deluxe Edition) • Audio Commentary With Co-Writer/Director John Carpenter, Actress Jamie Lee Curtis and Co-Writer/Producer Debra Hill • Featurette: Halloween: A Cut Above The Rest • Theatrical Trailer • TV and Radio Spots 1080p Anamorphic Widescreen (2.35:1); Dolby Surround 5.1; PCM 5.1; Original 1978 Mono Audio Subtitles: English SDH, Spanish Disc 3 – Halloween II (1981) Theatrical Version • Audio commentary with director Rick Rosenthal and actor Leo Rossi (Theatrical version) • Audio commentary with stunt co-ordinator/actor Dick Warlock (Theatrical version) • Theatrical Version And “The Nightmare Isn’t Over: The Making Of Halloween II” Featuring Rick Rosenthal, Lance Guest, Dick Warlock, Alan Howarth, Dean Cundey, Leo Rossi and Moore… • “Horror’s Hallowed Grounds: The Locations of Halloween II” – Host Sean Clark revisits the original shooting locations of the film • Deleted Scenes with Optional Audio Commentary from director Rick Rosenthal • Alternate Ending with Optional Audio Commentary from director Rick Rosenthal • Theatrical Trailer • TV and Radio Spots • Still Gallery 1080p Anamorphic Widescreen (2.35:1); DTS-HD MA 5.1 Disc 4 – Halloween II TV Cut (1981) DVD (Exclusive to Deluxe Edition) Television Cut With Added Footage Not Seen In The Theatrical Version Standard Definition Full-frame 1.33:1; Dolby Digital Mono Disc 5 – Halloween III: Season of The Witch (1982) • Audio Commentary with director Tommy Lee Wallace • Audio Commentary with actor Tom Atkins • “Stand Alone: The Making Of Halloween III: Season Of The Witch” featuring Tommy Lee Wallace, Tom Atkins, Stacey Nelkin, Dick Warlock, Dean Cundey and more • “Horror’s Hallowed Grounds” – Revisiting the original shooting locations • Still Gallery • Theatrical Trailers 1080p Anamorphic Widescreen (2.35:1); DTS-HD MA 5.1; Dolby Digital Stereo 2.0 Disc 6 – Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) • Audio Commentary with Actors Ellie Cornell and Danielle Harris • Audio Commentary with Director Dwight H.
