Steven Soderbergh has created a "stripped down" version of Raiders of the Lost Ark to highlight the movie's cinematography and staging.

I'm fascinated by Soderbergh's cinematic revisionist/educator persona. Not only is it informative, but there's also a playful, subversive side to it that really appeals to me.
Raiders is a masterpiece--Soderbergh excises many of its trademark elements (the score, the soundtrack, the color) to redirect our attention and remind us exactly how brilliant it is. He creates a context that allows us to "see" the film for the first time again, to an extent. I'd really like him to write a book or something. You know, when he's not busy directing acclaimed television shows and such. |

Do any of you realize you can easily turn down the color on your TV and watch anything in black and white?
