Default Living Waters: Intelligent Design in the Oceans of the Earth Blu-ray (10-10-2015)

Living Waters Intelligent Design in the Oceans of the Earth Blu-ray (brief user review)

Living Waters Intelligent Design in the Oceans of the Earth is volume three in the Design of Life series (Released on the Blu-ray format 9-10-15). This is the 3rd Blu-ray title released from ILLUSTRA MEDIA. I found the Living Waters Intelligent Design in the Oceans of the Earth was a very interesting documentary to watch. Intelligent design videos are not Christian or religious videos since they never once mention God.In fact, some people in the intelligent design movement believe that some alien life form created life on earth instead of God. Therefore, my point is that intelligent design videos like Living Waters are popular among some atheists that choose not to believe in evolution and they are also popular for many of the different world religious that believe in gods or a God. Intelligent design videos are also viewed at some secular schools if the school has a policy to allow videos that show evidence for intelligent design. Many secular schools only allow the theory of evolution to be taught and discussed in the classroom with no room for intelligent design or creation discussions.

This Living Waters Blu-ray has some excellent ocean scenes in high quality HD. In depth discussion about the design of Dolphins, Sea Turtles, Pacific Salmon, and Humpback Whales are discussed in this video. The video also talks about the great debate comparing the evolutionary theory of natural selection versus the scientific evidence for intelligent design. The scientific evidence in the video points to the conclusion that evolution is impossible.

*** Video comments ***

This Living Waters Blu-ray was professionally stamped in a Blu-ray factory. This Blu-ray is single layer with a total of 15.7GB used out of 25GB. Living Waters uses the MPEG-4/AVC codec with an average bit rate of around 32Mbps for some scenes. For many scenes this video peaks up to the 35-42Mbps range. All the menus and main video use the MPEG-4/AVC codec with a resolution of 1080i. This Living Waters Blu-ray has some outstanding beautiful 1080i HD ocean scenes. The documentary looks better when compared to the 1080i documentaries that I have seen on some HD cable and HD satellite channels. This documentary is also encoded with English subtitle option for those that like or need subtitles.

*** Audio comments ***

This Living Waters Blu-ray has both a lossy English 5.1 Dolby Digital soundtrack at 448kbps and a lossy 2.0 Dolby Digital stereo soundtrack at 192kbps (same audio quality as the 480i DVD release). The big disappointment is that there is no 5.1 PCM or 5.1 lossless soundtracks. PCM and lossless audio tracks are bit for bit exactly the same as the studio master soundtrack.

The Living Waters Blu-ray 5.1 lossy English Dolby Digital soundtrack mix sounded good for a documentary. There were times the subwoofer was active with a little bit of low level surround activity. The voices coming out of the center channel was easy to understand.

There is also a lossy English Dolby Digital 2.0 (192kbps) stereo soundtrack included for those consumers that do not have a surround sound system.

No Extra features

I was disappointed that this Living Waters Blu-ray video contains no extra features at all. The other Blu-ray title called Metamorphosis: the beauty & design of butterflies on Blu-ray has over an hour of extra features. In addition, the Flight Blu-ray title had six film trailers.

*** Conclusion ***

Living Waters Intelligent Design in the Oceans of the Earth is an excellent science documentary with some awesome scenic ocean scenes. The 1080i HD MPEG-4/AVC encode has an excellent picture quality. It was disappointing that there is no lossless soundtrack on this Blu-ray release. The lossy 5.1 Dolby Digital soundtrack was enjoyable to listen too. Those that are interested in learning about intelligent design when it comes to life in the ocean, will most likely enjoy this documentary.

I figure the more information I have, the easier it is for me to decide what my opinion might be. Or something.

(Besides, I love underwater stuff, like I said. )
That's smart; and honestly I respect your drive to expose yourself to and try to "inhabit" a range of perspectives--particularly when those perspectives might conflict with one another.
