Default black friday: what did you buy?

i looked through all the ads yesterday, then got a few today (friday) and i'm not all that impressed. there's maybe 1 thing I MAY get (a 9'' digital fram from frys), but there's a lot of nothing this year. but there are still a lot of people piling up outside walmart like a bunch of cows in wisconsin huddling for warmth. so what did everyone here who shopped today get?

Hah, nothing, Black Friday, is the day I stay as FAR AWAY from stores as I can. I can't stand stampeding crowds... like cows, just like you said.

Careful with those digital picture deals, they tend to be crapily made.

I didn't buy anything obviously, because I live in Canada and we don't have "black friday". BTW, you guys should change the name of Black Friday to something that doesn't sound to depressing.

Nothing so far. I don't bother going out, just for the reasons mentioned. Plus, I won't put myself on a timed schedule (i.e. sale from 4-7) over something of no significant importance. However, I do check out online sales, which I'm going to do now actually.

I agree, the name sounds like it's a bad Friday, and the end is near.

I think it was used by the bean counters to mean "in the black", instead of "in the red" for dollars.

I know those digital frames are cheap. I'm just looking for something cheap like that to put in the baby's room. it plays mp3s and cycles pics. so I can load up some of my pretty kid friendly pictures on there along with ''London Calling'' which our 4 week old really seems to like (meaning she calms down and falls aslepp whenever it comes on). and we're golden. now I saw the thread on $14.96 bds at walmart. so maybe i'll see if they have crank.

usually when you go out on black friday you only end up picking up trashy things (i.e. digital picture frames) that you would never otherwise pay full price for but feel you're saving money by buying it reduced... its all a scam to get you to buy useless crap you dont want/need... except on larger appliances... there its worth it

I bought a couple of Nintendo Wii's to sell for the Holiday Season. I did see a couple of great buys though for a Samsung 720 DLP 50" for $720 and a Samsung 720 Plasma 50" for $1200.

the only deal I got was the 2 gig usb flash drive to transfer stuff to my playstation from CC for 7 bucks....good deal though....no good blu ray deals around my area.....but I did talk a lady in line to buy a PS3 instead of the PS2 she was holding....I over heard her conversation on her cell phone about her son's PS2 breaking and that he had all these games and no system and that she was gonna buy him a new PS2. She said she didnt know if the PS3 could play PS2 games....this is where I looked right at her and made direct eye contact and started shaking my head up and down....I told her the 80 gig model can but the 40 gig can not...also told her that the PS2 will be obsolete sooner and would be a waste of money....the PS3 came with a free game and could play dvds plus blu rays which are the future replacment of DVDs...I then told her that the system is good for the next 10 years...she then asked where they were and I pointed and she said thanks..she bought one....she also said I should get a paycheck since I knew more then the other employees that tried helping her....just because of that, black friday was well worth it....

I have never shopped on Black Friday before, so this year was a first. I couldn't resist Staples deal for $14 and $17 on 2GB SD and MS Pro Duo cards. So I got two of each, for my Wii Virtual Console games and PSP/Digital Camera. Gamestop typically sucks at sales, but they had UMD movies for 3.99 each, so I got 4 of those.

well.........ummm...........uhhhhhhh. good for you? welcome to the forums. sad that you took a step backwards technology wise, getting a ps3 then getting any hd dvd player. but as long as you don't try to convince anyone why neutrality or hd dvd is so great then we're cool. what movies did you get on blu ray and from where?
