So, Gotta Ask.... why the sudden surge in ridiculous pricing for a little-to-none impressive product most of the times?
Granted to Tomb my disc in its Steel Grip for all time hopefully being able to withstand a Nuclear Blast... It had better!! especially since I paid a lot for this Bluray upgrade.... what about the inside?!! surely it is far more impressive than a generic Movie Poster on the front.... Nope. looks like steel. its reflective, I could use the steelbook to Tan my neck and face on a sunny afternoon... me writing how I feel about something before COVID was only 14 - 20 dollars. especially Lionsgate... Kudos to them. But lately there is a right wing partisan-like faction of greed and villainy which is not so palatable to my bank account to the point where it starts to make me for the first time rethink Physical because of the ridiculousness of it all. and TRUST ME, Digital isnt winning awards by my simple standards. (ie. movie spree, for one.) I get it Target and Best Buy abandoned Physical of their own doing, especially in pre-COVID times (on the precipice of event) No promotion, over-pricing, not acquiring even new releases...THEY gave up on Physical. and The Base.. now those stores are Ghost Towns. Karma. Thank god for Walmart who still believes, cant believe I just said that. even though I constantly hear the same Faction saying NO!! Physical is DEAD!! COME to DIGITAL, and watch the splendor of a BIG TIME Hollywood film on my Cell Phone!!! Impressive is it not?!! yeah. ok. nothing more impressive that is TRULY dependent on your Internet connection Bandwidth to be Great. and dont forget the lack of Extras... So back to Steelbook, where the narrative is gouge you Bases wallets/purses. just a like a 17 dollar Double Quarter Pounder w/ Cheese Meal Combo...125% markup.. are you kidding me?!! Studios pay heed, we really dont require a Tomb Enshrinement of a good movie...some in my collection what i have looks great (Synapse...for starters) but some again universal studios.. its the extreme close-up on the Tinswoodman from Oz... sheet metal inside and a movie poster front and a ungodly price attached because I had to get it from Internet only options (Shout!, Kino, Universal, FOXstudios) because of said local stores giving up on the medium. if most titles released like what Lionsgate did, I would be buying them for a small uptick in price constantly. but there is something else thats annoying... retailers that claim exclusivity cant or wont meet the demand and you are on a waiting list prior to release date. again, REALLY?! Take Tombstone 4K for instance.. any Movie lover that works in a studio knows that would fly off the warehouse shelves...take the shot, meet the obvious demand, stop the Order on Demand mantra, because you think if we print too many we will never recover the expense to produce... again.. Its TOMBSTONE!! are you kidding?! other titles True Lies, Aliens, The Abyss (whats up Mr. Cameron?) that were short sighted in their releases lately... why am I paying 42 dollars for Real Genius? (Granted its one of my favorite 80s movies) but REALLY?! Alien Romulus made Serious Bank... Steelbook upwards of 129.00 WTH?! a film I would have bought on what it was alone, but the studio for this particular product charged way too much for a pretty steelbook-like Tomb. or maybe there is something being smuggled inside that justifies the price? (should we take the steelbook and have it x-rayed like Halloween candy to see if its safe?! The most should have been 29.99-34.95 giving studio a little bit more than alienating your Base. ( No Pun Intended). another film that got (Connecting Covers) Over Pricing... Deadpool/Wolverine for upwards of 129.00 each.... again, HUH?!! (to quote The Transformers Animated Movie... "TILL ALL ARE ONE!!") So why is it for a little known over hyped movie (Great Promotion people, Congrats!! I Bow to you.) about a Dancer/Callgirl which we have seen many times before in films even better IMO, which garnered a Criterion release for god sakes before it even won the Oscar for only mere 25.00 dollars? where is The Excalibur Criterion release? again, Hmm. are you still with me here.. but yet, Universal will re-release (yet again) for the umpteenth time Jurassic trilogy AND again in 4K on Steelbook with cartoony art for 60.00 dollars.... sure it will have a obscured picture or the classic "BlueSteel" inside.. (what I would expect when you look inside is a Dilophosaurus Shrieking just like the movie, and spitting his green venom in my face....YEAH!!! (Fist bump in the air.) I rest my case and my rant.. Folks, Consumers...(yes, you..... Stop the Narrative, Force Change, Don't buy ridiculous Overpricing, BUY Local , they do exist , you just have to look, might I say Grindhouse Video, or Viper Video to name a few, Send a Strong Message....) Studios/ Retailers....DO Better. BE Better. STOP Fleecing your Base. -Nuff said. ![]() Last edited by Raptor7; 05-24-2025 at 03:44 PM. Reason: redo corrections |
