Default No HDMI cables with ps3

Some of you may have heard that the ps3 will not ship with an HDMI cable. Some are mad at Sony for doing this, but I don't see what all the fuss is about. I think that it's more cost effective to buy a ps3 and then other things as you need them. I wouldn't even use an HDMI cable because I don't have a flat panel TV. I would prefer to wait for prices to go down before I upgrade. I mean so what if Sony doesn't include an HDMI cable, do you want them to include a flat panel TV in the package for a substitute? Sony is saying to us "Here is playstation 3, enjoy it anyway you like." We all know that the ps3 is meant to take advantage of HDMI, but if you think about it, how many people out of two million will take advantage of HDMI? Not everyone.

I don't think it's a big deal that they're not including an HDMI cable but OTOH would it really kill Sony to include a basic $15 cable with the PS3? I guess I can see it both ways. Not a big deal to me either way though.

I think getting the player sans cable is better. Many people are going to upgrade anyways, as they may not be satisfied with the quality of the cable, not long enough, etc. Also in Sony's shoes, although the cable only costs a few dollars to manufacture, when you times that by 6 million, the dollars begin to add up. Combine that with a console that they are already taking a loss on and you have for reason for including no cable. They will use this as an opportunity to sell a PS3 branded HDMI cable for about $50, and start to make some of their $300 back.
