Dracula (1931)
Worth watching just for Lugosi's 'children of the night' line Let the Right One In Not just a great vampire movie, a great movie period Count Dracula (1977) BBC television production and one of the more faithful adaptations of the novel. Louis Jordan was an amazing Dracula Fright Night Right up there with The Lost Boys for campy 80s fun Interview With the Vampire Not a big fan the first time around but the BD sort of hooked me Honorable mentions - The Hunger, Underworld Honorable sort of mention - Lair of the White Worm. Not strictly a vampire story but it had all the elements and used them extremely well |

#5.The Lost Boys
#4.Let The Right One In #3.The Hunger (best opening sequence ever) #2.Bram Stoker's Dracula (a mess...but a beautiful mess) #1.Interview with the Vampire (huge Anne Rice fan here.) also love Fright Night, Near Dark, From Dusk Till Dawn, Blade, (where are the blu rays??) and the old Universal Dracula movies. Oh, and on tv I love me some Buffy and Angel. I really do love me some vampires....except for Twilight, I loathe that s@&%. |

Not a Vampire fan, really but I have one film that must be mentioned:
Dracula (1931) - seriously, Lugosi was at his prime before his life descended into crappy B-Movies and chronic pain got him hooked on morphine. Here he is at his absolute best. Watching him in Dracula he exudes such a charm that it's no wonder he bagged Clara Bow. ![]() I need to see Nosferatu. I am ashamed as a silent movie buff that I have not seen it yet. |

![]() I agree completely. It's a shame though that the film itself isn't up to what Lugosi and Edward Van Sloan bring to it. Those two are wonderful (Dwight Frye too) but after the great opening scenes much of the film is dry and talky. It's a shame that Lugosi -- the definitive Dracula -- never got to make the definitive Dracula film. |

I'm glad to see Fright Night on so many lists! I'm terrible at choosing favorites, but if I was recommending Vampire movies to someone, I'd recommend:
Fright Night Near Dark Let the Right One In Lost Boys Dracula (1931) Honorable Mentions: Monster Squad Martin From Dusk till Dawn Shadow of the Vampire Buffy the Vampire Slayer (come on, it's fun!) I have not seen Salem's Lot. It's tough to get a hold of it! |

Lots of fun vampire movies -- too many to choose between -- however these are my favorites that actually feature the Count himself:
Nosferatu Dracula (1931) Son of Dracula (Lon Chaney Jr is miscast, but it's still a cool little film) Horror of Dracula (Christopher Lee) Bram Stoker's Dracula and honorable mention for 2 fine TV versions: Dracula (1974) with Jack Palance Count Dracula (1977) Louis Jordan |
