Default How to check codes for quality before redemption

TheDean referred me to a post about DVD codes that redeem HD. It is difficult to determine the quality before redemption on some codes (looking at you, Itunes), but you can check the quality of any code if it redeems on a website like Lionsgate, Paramount, Sony, Warner, etc. before redeeming them.

For any studio that is connected to Movies Anywhere, you don't have to follow these steps. Instead, open a browser in incognito mode, visit Movies Anywhere and enter the code; it will show you the quality without redeeming.

Here's how you test other codes that are non-Movies Anywhere:
  1. Using Chrome or Firefox in incognito mode (so that you don't accidentally redeem), go to Lionsgate (redeemmovie.com) Paramount (paramountdigitalcopy.com), or Warner Bros. (for TV code verfiication, digitalredeem.warnerbros.com)
  2. Type in the code, but do NOT press enter.
  3. Right click on the page and click Inspect.
  4. Click on the network tab.
  5. Press enter/redeem.
  6. Look for a line that says, "?metadata" There will likely be two, but one will work.
  7. If using Firefox, double click on the line that says "?metadata"
    It will look like this:

Then look for the line under contentItems -> 0 -> profile to determine how it redeems.
  8. If using For Chome, click the preview tab, then go to the following:
    data -> code_status -> contentItems -> 0 -> profile
The profile will inform whether the code will redeem SD, HD or UHD.

Here are some redemption examples:
  1. DVD (SD) code that redeems in HD:

  2. DVD (SD) code that redeems in HD:

  3. DVD (SD) code that redeems in UHD:

Edit: updated instructions based on some codes that theDean sent me for testing, thank you!
