Default Anyone having trouble playing pirates of the Caribbean? Check for Firmware upgrades

I just bought both of the titles and they won't play on my samsung BD P1000.
I called Samsung and they told me that they have to make a new firmware update because the production company made a new version.

Is any one else having problems?

Marty

I have the samsung bd-p1200 and did have the same problem. But, I did find a firmware update already which corrected the problem. Hopefully, they'll come up with one for your model soon.

Default Pirates problem

Same problem here with the Pioneer Elite Blu-Ray...neither title will play, but Letters from Iwo Jima looked awesome last night. Has anyone else had the same problem with the Elite? How difficult is the firmware upgrade?

There's tons of posts about this on here. Usually a firmware upgrade fixes the problem right away. I think that's even the title of one of the threads.

Hi, this is my first post. I have a Sony BDP-S500 which will not play the bonus disk material properly for Pirates 3. I have already done the firmware update to version 3.10 and it still does the same thing:
After the intro with the anti-piracy warnings and talking skull first speach (which plays fine), it seems like the background (which should be full screen) separates from the text for the menu overlay. The background is in a small window at the upper right which is about 1/12 of the screen size (on a 16:9 aspect screen) and the text is aligned on the left side of the screen. I can use the remote to move through the menu choices and select one. The choice plays, but only in the 1/12 size window which is too small to really see any detail.

The 3.10 version firmware update is the latest available for the S500 unit. Sony seems to think it is the disk. What do I do now?

Default I have the BD-P1200 and Still have issues

I have the Samsung BD-P1200 and I am still having issues after installing the new firmware. I called Samsung last night and they stated it is a known issue and they are working it. They should have a new firmware for the BD-P1200 soon.

Some people are saying the new PS3 update fixed their 60GB models but I'm afraid to update yet. I'm still spooked about those reports of the 2.0 update bricking other systems.

He's already spoken to them and there is no firmware currently available to fix it is what it sounds like to me.

Correct. I successfully installed the latest firmware Sony has for my unit (BDP-S500) and it does not fix the problem.

Does anyone think it could be the Blu-ray disk or does everyone think it is just a firmware problem with the unit that Sony has not been fixed yet?

I have attached a picture of what it looks like.

Thanks
