Default Blu steps out of debate?

I would really like some insider information on this.

According to them blu backed out.

http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/format-wa...ate-319696.php

No offense but I want to know why, because it makes us blu supporters look like jackasses.

Blu-ray did the right thing. A master debater () can look like they won even with all the facts in plain sight.

Just another opportunity for HD-DVD to spin numbers/facts.

HD-DVD has had a size advantage since launch! 30GB vs 25GB! AND before you argue with me try to find a 50GB BR movie anywhere. They don't exist and 50GB hd-dvd disc's should be here any minute.
I just compared 2001 a space odyssey on a hd-a3 with planet earth on the PS3 and can easily say HD-DVD rules the roust for picture quality and interface.
IMHO

Debates can only help the candidate who is behind.

At first something like this would shock me but not anymore. Blu did the right thing, look at how they twisted Sony's CEO words around

I would like to know who was going to participate in the debate. The article states the sides, but is it Toshiba for HD DVD, or Universal, or Paramount? The same question for blu-ray. Or is this all just someone "knowledgeable" about each format.

I would also like to see the statement from the BD camp announcing that they were backing out.

Do you happen to know who "they" are? I looked through the format war section of his site, and did not see any previous postings announcing this.

What I found really odd is how they placed the Blu and HD logos respectively.

Seems a bit odd that the 'entity' they're upset with is the one on the winning side of their little cartoon.

It does seem strange that NO ONE at Blu-ray.com even knew about the debate. This smells of DUD troll FUD.

Perhaps.
I just know that Blu needs to take a more agressive stance on working on public opinion.
Yes the facts are most definitely in our favor, but smear campaigns with no countered can also have an effect.
Youtube ads are cute and all but I just think blu needs to put more focus out there on the web by getting the facts out to tech sites that people listen to.
So many sites wear their hd bias on their sleeve like aintitcoolnews and others while blu seems to feel that public opinion doesn't matter.
We have the ads on tv, the only thing that hey have is the press.
The sooner we take that away then the sooner they have nothing left.

It is FUD. It's kinda sad too, as I have Gizmodo on my Bookmark Bar and frequent it daily. Other than their outdated "State of Blu-Ray" post, I've never seen any crap like this on 'modo before. But the author of the post is clearly a fanboy based on the title, "The Smell of Fear." Give me a friggin break! I guess his pride got hurt that the better format had more important things to do than debate with some d-bag they know will spin Dud's numbers and figures into something artificially hopeful?!?

And anyone with a respectable Tech blog like Gizmodo should know any post relating to the format war will result in FUD and fanboy bickering.

What's even worse is the Dud guys over at HDD take it and run like crazy. It's too bad M$ guys become instantly delusional any time it looks like they get a limb out of the grave. This war could have been over a long time ago....

Quote:And since studio supported evened up when Paramount went exclusively HD DVD, Blu-ray lost its main selling point.

HA!! What a load of crap. Paramount has released 1 real blockbuster and Universal might have one in Bourne. Bluray has the definite software advantage.

that does not surprise me one bit. we've all known that 90% of hd owners bought it because they are ignorant, missinformed, or were simply lied to.

Yup, and HD-DVD launched dual layers 15 X 2 out of the gate, and this is one of their primary slaps in the face. Blu-Ray FUTURE PROOFED their format and still keeps 100GB in the back pocket (we will never need it against DUD). Ever heard of shootin' your wad before it's time?! By the time you get a second chance, all parties may have lost interest .

I'm really doubtful we'll see the utilization of triple or quad layers in this generation of optical medium. The return is just really ... not pleasant.

It's possible, yes, and would be a nice step, but I expect it's something that'll get pushed for the optical media backup side of things, which is another dying field.

Funny, I seem to recall the HD-DVD side refused to put up a sparring partner for another such debate not too long ago...
