For sheer nostalgia purposes, I could be tempted by this...

Was always a fan of Roland Emmerich popcorn flicks. Stargate, 2012, Day After Tomorrow, Godzilla, and the film I think is the greatest summer popcorn film of all time - ID4. ID4 and Godzilla have two of the most memorable scores ever, god bless you David Arnold.

Same here, in fact i saw it twice at the cinema! Bought it on vhs the day it was released lol. I've always though it was a lot of fun with great action and visuals and some fun characters, especially Jean Reno. Can't understand why it continually gets such bad feedback. Its great blockbuster entertainment! The FX have held up really well too.

What idiot came up with the idea of setting this film in the pissing rain?

Summer 1998 was a washout here and this movie, such a let-down after the high of ID4 two years earlier, was not the escape we were hoping for.

Because it's a horrible movie on all levels and slaughtered the Godzilla name as well.
