Germany Ritter Rost AKA Knight Rusty 3D Blu-ray (2013) [Region B Locked] [Germany only]

Couldn’t find an existing thread for this one, so here goes…

I just found out about this film today, watched the trailer and it looks really fun, and as luck would have it, it’s out on German Blu, with the English voice track even!

I found it for sale cheap on Amazon Germany:

Ritter Rost (inkl. 2D-Version) [3D Blu-ray] https://www.amazon.de/dp/B00DDHF4CQ?...ing=UTF8&psc=1

Any thoughts on this one?

This is one of the few animated titles I decided not to bother with...

Looks like a cute one, hoping for the best. I’ll share my thoughts after it arrives. Can you change the English film title in the thread title back to Knight Rusty, as that’s what it’s known as? Thanks!

Done, not sure how that y dropped off, getting sleepy I guess. As it was cheap I ordered one for myself, since it got a good review from Gert the 3D must be decent..

My thoughts: this is a fun little adventure, low budget but with a unique and clever steampunky cutout design, and the 3D is quite impressive throughout; not much pop-out, but there’s lots of good depth and layering. My favorite scene is the rickety mine car ride. The characters are pretty thinly sketched, with the notable exception of the two-headed dragon character (with a separate personality for each head!), who comes off the best. The writing is definitely the weakest link, but the colorful 3D eye candy makes up for it. And the music score and songs are pretty jazzy too. Recommended.

Haven’t seen it yet. I don’t believe there’s a 3D Blu release of this one. A pity, because the trailer looks pretty fun. I can’t imagine watching these films in 2D.

It says no release date on the page; I took that to mean it was planned but never actually released. The photo of the cover doesn’t mention 3D on it anywhere that I can see.

Can anyone out there confirm whether the sequel was released in 3D on Blu?

There's a sticker much like Chickenhare on the cover saying 3D and 2D.

Hi waverboy,

I've been searching through images, etc and saw no covers in 3D. Websites say not available.

It's similar in quality to the first movie, except in 2-D of course. It was purchased since the kids enjoyed the first one and showed interest in seeing the sequel. I don't remember it. In my spreadsheet, I noted that it's region free. (I noted the first one as Region Free as well despite the thread description as being Region B locked.)

That's too bad. From the trailer it looks like it could be a better movie than the first one. Thanks for the information!
