Warner Bros IMAX Space Station 3D Blu-ray (2002) [Region Free]

I've read that the IMAX Hubble 3D is one of the best 3D experiences, but who has seen IMAX Space Station 3D and how does that compare? Both are currently on sale through Amazon, so I thought about picking both up.

Just a heads-up - I think the Hubble one on Amazon is the 2D Blu-Ray (only the Blu-Ray.com page shows the 3D version (best buy exclusive?)).

The movie is actually called "Hubble 3D" (both the 2D and 3D versions)

oh crap, I think you're right in that the 3D version is in fact a Best Buy exclusive - damn it... that totally escaped my mind.

you know they really shouldn't be calling it Hubble 3D when it isn't being featured as such on the actual blu-ray disc... talk about false advertising.

in regards to the actual film, it also doesn't help that the film is about the astronauts and not Hubble itself - the amazing photos that it took is so minimal it's both deceptive and disappointing.

After looking at the Amazon page directly (using the link from Bluray.com) and looking at the Best Buy page, you guys are correct. Thanks for the heads up.

Arggghh!!! I ordered this and it's already shipping.

How can blu-ray.com and amazon.com be so misleading.

On Amazon.com it clearly states:

Format: 3D, Widescreen

and of course the darn thing is called Hubble 3D.

The blu-ray.com 'buy it now' and all the pics show the 3D Blu-ray and the link goes also to that version on Amazon:

Frak, now I gotta do an international return, which will take months. I'm so annoyed.

Looking at it now, it's a bit confusing which version it is.

I originally assumed 2D (since the 3D was a best buy exclusive). The coverart does look the same for both (except the best buy one has some text at the bottom). The BestBuy one also seems to be a 3D+2D+DVD+DC combo.

There is also a 2D release that just says IMAX HUBBLE (no 3D).

MSRP for both (best buy and amazon) are also $44.98.

I really don't know anymore! The mention of "3D" for format makes me hope it is the 3D Blu, but the lack of a case shown (with "3D" logo) makes it a bit confusing since it was actually called 'Hubble 3D' (like "Saw 3D")

Well this is the 2D version called just 'Hubble':

http://www.amazon.com/IMAX-Hubble-Bl...7057443&sr=8-5

and this is what I ordered that blu-ray.com links to as the 3D blu-ray, called 'Hubble 3D' (Imax: Hubble 3D [Blu-ray] (2010) Format: 3D Widescreen). The reviews that are specific to this version talk about the 3D. I was thrown a little by the lack of the blu bar, but trust Amazon and Blu-ray.com had this right:
http://www.amazon.com/Imax-Hubble-Bl...7057443&sr=8-1

and I also found this ridiculously priced combo pack (3D+2D+Digital):
http://www.amazon.com/IMAX-Hubble-Bl...7057443&sr=8-3

Well I'll let you guys know if it's 3D when it arrives (takes forever to ship to the UK), but I will be jolly cross if it's not!

I ordered both via Prime and got them Wednesday. They're both the 3-D versions with lenticular covers (and also Hubble is the dual pack with regular BD and DVD!), so no need to worry I also highly recommend both at the $20 sale price they're at too!

I hope you guys get the 3D versions. The Hubble 3D is an awesome disc! Its what I pop in first to show people what 3D is all about!

The countdown IMAX trailer at the start is almost worth the price of admission alone! It starts 2D like an old film countdown then goes all 3D as the camera zooms through the numbers ending on the IMAX logo! It was designed to wow on an IMAX screen and on my 110" screen at home, it does just that!

The opening titles are also simple but have great pop out 3D as the words become stars and fly past your head. ANother favorite scene is when they go to the training pool, there is a low angle shot that makes it look like you are only inches above the water and it could spill into your room at any moment!

I got this at BB for $30 and it was worth it even at that price!

I also picked up Hubble for the $21.99 current pricing and got the 3D version. I have Space Station on my DVR from 3net and it's not bad, but I think Hubble more interesting and has better pacing.

Oh awesome! Well, that's a relief!

Yeah I've seen Space Station 3D and that had great 3D, so am looking forward to this sister title of sorts.

Captain Jack, when I click on your link it takes me to the same page as the Bluray.com link and I'll I see is:

Imax: Hubble 3D [Blu-ray] (2010)

Which leads me to believe that it is NOT 3D. Please let us know as soon as you get yours. Fingers crossed for ya!

in regards to Saw 3D - the 2D version actually deletes the 3D and is titled "Saw: The Final Chapter"

funny I thought the opposite: Space Station being more interesting than Hubble.

anyhow, my copy from Amazon is coming to me today, so I'm anxious to see what the deal is with the disc.

I'm assuming this print up like 'Deep Sea 3D' where it is the 3D version and on the back it states "This pack also includes the 2D version, Playable on Your Blu-ray player". Warner's is slightly kooky in this respect, titles that say "Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray" aren't two discs but both versions encoded onto one disc.

I too found the pacing on SS a little dull. Far too talky... too many astronauts floating around talking about their time on the ISS.

Hubble was far more interesting. Not great, but a lot more interesting.

well... um... that was a surprise. The disc I bought from Amazon for $21.99 is the combo 2-disc edition ("Blu-ray 3D + Bluray + DVD + Digital Copy")

Well good news! It arrived today, and it's 3D, in fact it's the 3DBR+2DBR+DVD+Digital Copy version, with the 3D cover to boot. So it is indeed on sale for 21.99, even if Amazon did a confusing job with the cover art and describing it!

So if anyone is buying it, you can be quite sure it's the full package, cos a few of us have gotten it now
