20th Century Fox The Wolverine 3D Blu-ray (2013) [Region Free] [Theatrical Cut only]

The Wolverine 3D Blu-ray

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wolverine_%28film%29

The Wolverine is an upcoming American/Australian superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Wolverine. It is intended to be the sixth installment in the X-Men film series and follows the events of X-Men: The Last Stand (2006).

The Wolverine is scheduled to be released on July 24, 2013 in various international markets; July 25, 2013 in Australia; and on July 26, 2013 in the United States.

---

The Wolverine had great 3D in the trailer. Movie looks promising. 3D has medium to strong 3D layers.

But first Pacific Rim 3D this Friday, followed a week later by Turbo 3D the 17th and RIPD 3D the 19th, and then The Wolverine 3D on the 24th of July 2013. Awesome year for 3D action/sci fi/adventure movies.

126 minutes, thanks. That's a lot to convert to 3D, 2 hours, 6 minutes. From the trailer, this looks like stronger 3D than we saw in Marvel's Iron Man 3, but TBD.

So glad to see the movie is 2 hours! Not enough movies are of epic length anymore and it makes me sad

2 hours, yeah, that is nice. Hopefully plenty of time to develop the story, action, etc. And if the 3D is as great as it was in the trailer, 2 hours of great 3D.

It looks cool, yes. I can imagine why Wolverine wants to be a non powered human,
[Show spoiler]but wonder how they'll present his reasoning for it. Maybe he doesn't want to live forever with Jean Gray, who he had a nightmare about in the preview trailer).

Will have to rewatch X Men Origins Wolverine again. His girlfriend is Lynn Collins, the same woman from John Carter, and Gambit is also played by Taylor Kitsch from JC too.

*facepalm* that's right I forgot about those runtimes lol, but even so I feel like studios are trying more and more to cut movies under 2 hours and I'm tired of it lol

Agreed.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynn_Collins

She was hoping for John Carter 2, but it seems unlikely sadly after Disney lost a lot of their promotional money and investment from the lacking US box office. The trailers were mostly showing the action instead of the story, and they should've stuck with "John Carter of Mars" as a better title, but probably held off on the "Mars" part after the poor take from "Ghosts of Mars", though I heard "Mission to Mars" did okay.

On topic, they showed this again before Pacific Rim 3D, and again, the 3D still looks great for The Wolverine, this time seen on an XD3D Cinemark screen.

There was a newer trailer out there for this, but only saw it in 2D, which played before White House Down, which reminded me of the first Die Hard. Great action movie.

Saw the trailer for this before Pacific Rim here in New Zealand last night....have to say the 3D looked somewhat subdued....I was expecting something special with Marvels 3D getting better and better with every installment!

With the samurai/martial arts "backplot" the movie seemed perfect for the "pop-out pickings" I expected a few swords and Wolverines claws to break out of the screen...seems it was not to be (at least in the trailer)

will probably still take in the 3d version when (or IF)* it screens here.....

*3D seems to be dropping off here in New Zealand - Pacific Rim has only 2 3D showings a day .......Monsters University only has 1 screening...not looking good for 3D in cinema's here few other movies have similar screenings! the horizon looks promising for releases though....plenty of promo material for

EPIC, Turbo, Planes, Thor 2, R.I.P.D....

For pop outs, I didn't see much, but for 3D layers, they looked really great, with nice distance between the layers.

For 3D in New Zealand, would you say it's only at your local theater, or all theaters throughout the land?

I agree..there was some nice depth in the Wolverine trailer (but it was put to shame by better depth in Pacific Rim) But I guess even I was expecting more.
Maybe its the speed of the action that makes things look flatter - we all know "slow-mo" scenes seem to show off 3D better and there is evidence in this in both of the mentioned movies.....

As for the screenings I cant really comment...however locally screening frequency has notably dropped off....in the past a touted "blockbuster" like Pacific Rim (which only opened this past Thursday) would have been hammered with almost back to back screenings. Both major cinema chains only have Pacific Rim screening twice daily!

So heres the current 3D listings

Reading Cinemas: (title/screenings per day)
Pacific Rim X2
Man Of Steel X2
Despicable Me2 X2
Monsters University X1

Hoyts:
Pacific Rim X2
Despicable Me2 X2
Epic X1
Monsters University X1

Should be noted that we are just about to head into school holidays for two weeks as well......half these screenings also have rediculous timeslots...MU only playing at 1.30pm???

Now back to the topic .....

I did comment to the other half that The Wolverine looks like the kind of movie that could have pushed the pop-outs but didnt seem to....we are all wanting a super hero movie that breaks into the cinema but as yet we havent really seen one...I for one would have really loved to have seen Wolverines claws wave across the heads of the viewers Talked again after the screening of Pacific Rim and we decided that maybe the public are expecting the BIG "pop-out" factor from 3D movies and after many movies without pop-outs the wow factor or novelty just isnt being delivered - so why would you go to them....also have a workmate who will prefer the 2d screenings over 3D, yet he cant tell me why??? All factors maybe - or maybe its just that theres so many 3D movies out there at the moment that the local cinemas just CANT manage more screenings

I'm still enjoying the 3D scene....and I'm sure others are too, I just hope it doesnt become a "for a few screenigns only in 3D" or even worse "available in 3D" gets omitted from our cinema's altogether....

I see what you're saying about pop out. When non 3D fans go to a theme park 3D ride, like Transformers, Shrek, Star Wars or Back to the Future for example (older 3D rides), those are filled with plenty of pop outs to make the audience flinch. Those make a normal movie seem more exciting, and when they see theatrical releases in theaters, they're pretty much let down by most movies being offered today, which don't offer many pop outs, mostly depth, layers, so they are disappointed in the 3D as a result as you suggested.

The argument filmmakers usually make is: "We don't want our 3D movie to be a gimmick where a bunch of things pop out just for the sake of popping out every other minute. It has to fit in with the story."

But I agree, during action scenes, I'd also like to see more pop outs: Maybe gravel, debris or shrapnel flying out from the ongoing battle would be the next best thing if they can't get Wolverine's claws to strike out of the screen at us.

But yes, Pacific Rim's strong 3D had lots of stuff outside the screen barrier, even if not direct pop outs.

Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D is my favorite 3D example of how to do strong 3D with pop outs.

I have seen the trailer for this in about 5 movies so far. The first time I saw the trailer, the movie looked kind of dumb, next time, it looked a bit better, and so forth until the last time before Pacific Rim where it looked awesome. It has really grown on me to the point I went from "ehhh" to "I'm there opening weekend."

I hope they get this right.

I felt similar about XMen Origins Wolverine before I saw it, but it gets better each time I watch it. Definitely catch up with it if you haven't watched it in awhile. Good movie, Ryan Reynolds being the
[Show spoiler]main villain puts up a good fight, though I still have no idea how they transferred all those abilities into him other than the admantium metal.

The Wolverine does have very promising 3D. Can't wait till the weekend to see it.

The 3D here does look a bit stronger than the preview for Thor Dark World. Thanks for that online link also.

Heads Up for any planning to see this:

MOVIE MONEY: To see The Wolverine

Best Buy and other stores probably, have a section with all the XMen movies (live action) on Blu Ray with Movie Money to see The Wolverine $10.00 towards the ticket price at participating theaters.
Each movie is 9.99$, which is almost like a free blu ray since you're getting to see The Wolverine 3D for free. WIth a DVD trade in, it's only 4.99.
don't throw out the plastic wrap sticker, as on the back of it you have to go online to redeem it and print out the offer, then present it to the theater. I know Cinemark takes these promotions, as do most major theaters.

Though it's not always the length of time that counts, but the experience itself. Much like life. Not how long you live, but the quality of life. But if it's all good stuff in The Wolverine, then 2 hours sounds better than an hour and a half.
