![]() ![]() The Wolverine 3D Blu-ray http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wolverine_%28film%29 The Wolverine is an upcoming American/Australian superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Wolverine. It is intended to be the sixth installment in the X-Men film series and follows the events of X-Men: The Last Stand (2006). The Wolverine is scheduled to be released on July 24, 2013 in various international markets; July 25, 2013 in Australia; and on July 26, 2013 in the United States. --- The Wolverine had great 3D in the trailer. Movie looks promising. 3D has medium to strong 3D layers. But first Pacific Rim 3D this Friday, followed a week later by Turbo 3D the 17th and RIPD 3D the 19th, and then The Wolverine 3D on the 24th of July 2013. ![]() Last edited by Deciazulado; 07-28-2013 at 08:45 AM. |

It looks cool, yes. I can imagine why Wolverine wants to be a non powered human, [Show spoiler] Will have to rewatch X Men Origins Wolverine again. His girlfriend is Lynn Collins, the same woman from John Carter, and Gambit is also played by Taylor Kitsch from JC too. |

Agreed.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynn_Collins She was hoping for John Carter 2, but it seems unlikely sadly after Disney lost a lot of their promotional money and investment from the lacking US box office. The trailers were mostly showing the action instead of the story, and they should've stuck with "John Carter of Mars" as a better title, but probably held off on the "Mars" part after the poor take from "Ghosts of Mars", though I heard "Mission to Mars" did okay. On topic, they showed this again before Pacific Rim 3D, and again, the 3D still looks great for The Wolverine, this time seen on an XD3D Cinemark screen. There was a newer trailer out there for this, but only saw it in 2D, which played before White House Down, which reminded me of the first Die Hard. Great action movie. |

Saw the trailer for this before Pacific Rim here in New Zealand last night....have to say the 3D looked somewhat subdued....I was expecting something special with Marvels 3D getting better and better with every installment!
With the samurai/martial arts "backplot" the movie seemed perfect for the "pop-out pickings" I expected a few swords and Wolverines claws to break out of the screen...seems it was not to be (at least in the trailer) will probably still take in the 3d version when (or IF)* it screens here..... *3D seems to be dropping off here in New Zealand - Pacific Rim has only 2 3D showings a day .......Monsters University only has 1 screening...not looking good for 3D in cinema's here ![]() EPIC, Turbo, Planes, Thor 2, R.I.P.D.... For 3D in New Zealand, would you say it's only at your local theater, or all theaters throughout the land? |

Maybe its the speed of the action that makes things look flatter - we all know "slow-mo" scenes seem to show off 3D better and there is evidence in this in both of the mentioned movies..... As for the screenings I cant really comment...however locally screening frequency has notably dropped off....in the past a touted "blockbuster" like Pacific Rim (which only opened this past Thursday) would have been hammered with almost back to back screenings. Both major cinema chains only have Pacific Rim screening twice daily! So heres the current 3D listings Reading Cinemas: (title/screenings per day) Pacific Rim X2 Man Of Steel X2 Despicable Me2 X2 Monsters University X1 Hoyts: Pacific Rim X2 Despicable Me2 X2 Epic X1 Monsters University X1 Should be noted that we are just about to head into school holidays for two weeks as well......half these screenings also have rediculous timeslots...MU only playing at 1.30pm??? Now back to the topic ..... I did comment to the other half that The Wolverine looks like the kind of movie that could have pushed the pop-outs but didnt seem to....we are all wanting a super hero movie that breaks into the cinema but as yet we havent really seen one...I for one would have really loved to have seen Wolverines claws wave across the heads of the viewers ![]() ![]() I'm still enjoying the 3D scene....and I'm sure others are too, I just hope it doesnt become a "for a few screenigns only in 3D" or even worse "available in 3D" gets omitted from our cinema's altogether.... ![]() Chris |

The argument filmmakers usually make is: "We don't want our 3D movie to be a gimmick where a bunch of things pop out just for the sake of popping out every other minute. It has to fit in with the story." But I agree, during action scenes, I'd also like to see more pop outs: Maybe gravel, debris or shrapnel flying out from the ongoing battle would be the next best thing if they can't get Wolverine's claws to strike out of the screen at us. But yes, Pacific Rim's strong 3D had lots of stuff outside the screen barrier, even if not direct pop outs. Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D is my favorite 3D example of how to do strong 3D with pop outs. |

Great if it is a quality conversion (2.8D).

I have seen the trailer for this in about 5 movies so far. The first time I saw the trailer, the movie looked kind of dumb, next time, it looked a bit better, and so forth until the last time before Pacific Rim where it looked awesome. It has really grown on me to the point I went from "ehhh" to "I'm there opening weekend."
I hope they get this right. |

I felt similar about XMen Origins Wolverine before I saw it, but it gets better each time I watch it. Definitely catch up with it if you haven't watched it in awhile. Good movie, Ryan Reynolds being the
[Show spoiler] The Wolverine does have very promising 3D. Can't wait till the weekend to see it. |

Heads Up for any planning to see this: MOVIE MONEY: To see The Wolverine Best Buy and other stores probably, have a section with all the XMen movies (live action) on Blu Ray with Movie Money to see The Wolverine $10.00 towards the ticket price at participating theaters. Each movie is 9.99$, which is almost like a free blu ray since you're getting to see The Wolverine 3D for free. WIth a DVD trade in, it's only 4.99. don't throw out the plastic wrap sticker, as on the back of it you have to go online to redeem it and print out the offer, then present it to the theater. I know Cinemark takes these promotions, as do most major theaters. ![]() |

Though it's not always the length of time that counts, but the experience itself. Much like life. Not how long you live, but the quality of life. But if it's all good stuff in The Wolverine, then 2 hours sounds better than an hour and a half.
