Default The Babadook (2014) (Special Edition)

An extremely disturbing film. Nice to see that Australian filmmaking is alive and well.

I've been reading great reviews so I just ordered the Blu-ray from Australia (I'm in the US).

The Australian Umbrella disc is 1080/50i. Hopefully the upcoming UK release will be 1080/24p:

I am in the US and imported this one from Australia recently. Just watched it last night. It was a good film and was pretty disturbing. Definitely worth watching.

Don't pay too much attention to the hype, I heard way too much and it ruined the movie for me when it didn't live up to the expectations of BEST HORROR MOVIE EVER. It's not particularly scary, it's just got a really great performance from the lead actress. One thing most of the reviews neglect to mention is that her kid is an absolute monster who is unbelievably annoying; most of the plot is driven by the fact even the mother is sick of this awful kid. He was so unbearable that I had a hard time making it through the first half of the movie, but obviously that's exactly what the character is supposed to be like so it isn't a criticism of the movie exactly, just a reason I didn't enjoy watching it.

I have to say.. I liked the film a lot, but I definitely think it's getting too much hype. I have a feeling that when a lot of people in the US finally get to see this they will be disappointed. I wouldn't put it in the same category as the other classics mentioned. It's worth a watch for sure, but not what everyone is hyping it up to be. Of course that's just my opinion...

Wow. I didn't find the kid annoying at all, I was on his side for the whole movie. I don't know if you have children, but I would assume that Babadook and for example Mama are movies that have a much bigger impact on those who have.

But yeah, the movie was very stylishly directed and as I remember it didn't have a single jump scare. Also love movies where you can make your own conclusions of the story at the end. The ending was slightly a letdown though, just like with The Conjuring.

Yeah, and to make matters even worse, I called them out on it and they STILL tried to tell me the shipping cost is based on total order weight!

That's exactly what they told me in email.
Even orders from Amazon Japan and France ,which I consider most expensive not cost more than 20$.
I don't know what happened to them but few months back I was paying 12$ for whole order (4,5 blus).

Yeah, I just bought THE DESCENT from them and shipping was over $8 bucks. But altogether it was $18.49 shipped, that's the lowest I've seen shipped to CT.

[Show spoiler]Actually, the idea of the movie is about the main character being terrified or even possessed by the frightening idea that maybe she has a kid she doesn't like. That's not to say you shouldn't be on the kid's side, per se, or dislike the mother. The movie is exploring that idea through the story of this evil being haunting them.
