Default some issues concerning assassins creed?

hi, i know this has been talked about a lot and apologise if it is starting to bore some you, but i have been playing assassin creed for about total of 6 hours in about 5 days but when i started playing yesterday it crashed twice in an hour. i hear that it could be the new firmware 2.00, should i update it to the new 2.01 firmware and see if it fixes it or is it a dodgy blu-ray and should i return it back while i still can. thanks.

Usually when there is a firmware upgrade it means that there was a bug to be fixed or added content - my PS3 froze on me just getting to the upgrade screen with version 2.0 - So I powered it down and was able to upgrade to version 2.01 - So really it is up to you to take the risk - but I don't see the harm in upgrading firmware as they come along........................

I've only played the game on version 2.00 firmware and never had an issue with it, no crashes or anything. Haven't played the game since I installed firmware 2.01 so can't comment if there's any difference. My advice would be to update the firmware anyway, and if the crashing persists get the game changed, it could be a dodgy disc (it shouldn't be but it's always a possibility).

I've been having some weird glitches too. Like I'll get random memory error messages on the screen and stuff. So annoying.

Not the ones intentionally put in the game to remind you you're hooked into the machine.

Lol, the first time one of those "errors" came up I thought there was a problem too.

I've found there to be some very strange behavior in general with assasins creed and the 2.01 firmware.

If I start my ps3 with the controller button and start playing the game it will lock up randomly within 10 minutes. Through trying quite a few different things I have discovered that every time it would freeze it was in full run or sprint with the left analog stick pinned and one or more buttons pressed.

I had noticed that after I turned off the power switch on the back, and turned the unit back on via the button on the front, it wasn't freezing. So I started to experiment.

So far as I can tell, if the ps3 is started with the controller it will freeze like clockwork every time. If I start with the button on the unit, does not freeze. If i start with the controller, turn the controller off, then back on, doesn't freeze.

I've gone through 4 or 5 hour play sessions with no freeze starting from the console, and had freezes within 10 minutes like clockwork 100% of the time starting from the controller alone.

This seems absolutely wierd as hell to me, and I can't think of any reasoning for it. However I can't dismiss how reproduceable this behavior is either.

Do you have link for this, or just hearsay?

Or maybe it's heresy, that would fit better with the theme of the game than hearsay.

Upgrading to 2.01 didn't fix the freezing/hang problems for me. And because I finished the game on 2.01 before I had spent a lot of time on it, it's hard to know if the newer f/w even decreased the rate of problems.

In my opinion, you don't have a bad disc. As others have suggested (both here and elsewhere), the issues are game issues of which Ubisoft is aware. Although the hangs were terribly annoying when they occurred, I just kind of powered through them without it impacting the overall experience too much.

Some people may indeed scream heresy, a patch for a console game, unheard of.

Oh and do try the controler work around I have been using, it works very well for me, I would be curious to see if it works for others.

A patch for a console game is unheard of only if you ignore all the prior 360/PS3 games which had patches.

The only reason older games didn't have patches is because they couldn't. Even so, later discs of the same game often didn't contain the same version of the game that a release-day disc would have.

This attitude needs to flat out go away. Bugs happen, and there is no way a development team can catch a bug which does not happen to every console, regardless of setting or hardware quirks. They don't have 3,000,000 PS3s sitting around to go make sure it works with all of them.

I have had assassins creed for only one day and it froze two times in a row today. The last time I played it it was acting weird like trying to go in slow motion. I am mad because I actually sent after Uncharted but it was sold out so I had picked assassins for my second choice. I am mad but I love this game. If it didnt freeze how much better would it make the game.
