it probably will come before the end of the year however lets hope its a better quality release than life on mars. which i hear is so grainy however i haven't seen or heard of ashes to ashes being on BBC-hd so perhaps it wont be any better quality

I'm watching Episode 1 of Life on Mars on BD on my PS3 right now. It looks mainly like an upconverted DVD. No grain issues, though. Perhaps after the pilot, the way they shot the series changed...

I hope they put out an Ashes To Ashes Blu Ray.

Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes were shot on Super16mm so there should be some visible grain.

Film grain is good.

you are a grain fan i totally respect that however most people who watched the original broadcast on tv or seen it on dvd would not have noticed grain but
when purchasing the blu-ray version find heavy grain that must be frustrating
to some who are just not used to film grain each to there own however myself and many others on this forum really don't accept grain as hi-def

There shouldn't really be heavy grain on these shows. A good DOP and colourist can make Super16mm footage look excellent, and we should also remember that there have been some high profile feature films in recent years that have shot on the format - most recently The Wrestler starring Mickey Rourke.

No retailers seem to be taking preorders...
The DVD box was released nearly a year ago, I'm losing hope for a Blu-Ray issue.

I have also been looking for ashes to ashes season1 box set I have not yet seen
any pre-orders on any of the main retailers sites however if one does appear and is of the same up scaled shoddy release as life on Mars. I will happily skip
this release and will buy the DVD box set..

I was very disappointed in the treatment given to the original series of life on Mars that it seems as if series 1-2 was just rushed out the door and a way for the studio to cut costs by squeezing all 16 episodes on 2 disks almost abusing the blu-ray format and taking its new customers for a ride I pray if there is a release of ashes to ashes that they give it the proper treatment that it deserves

So has anyone heard any word on it coming out on blu yet? Cause if not I'm thinking about just imported the dvds over here so I can own all three seasons to go with my Life on Mars blus...Really hoping for a blu ray release though

I don't think there will be a blu unless its upscaled like Life On Mars as the first two series were made in standard definition The third series was made in HD so there may be a blu for that, though I have expected to see it released by now as the SD edition is out. Extras are poor on the latest DVD so let's hope it'll be revisited later, though the complete DVD box has also been issued.

Truly enjoyed Ashes to Ashes when I saw this a while back; I definitely get the comparisons to the other BBC time-travel?! series Life on Mars, though I think both shows have completely different vibes/tones, just like the '70's (Life on Mars) has a completely different vibe/tone than the '80's (Ashes to Ashes).

I felt ATA was a better show, though I will admit a lot of this is because of my nostalgia for the '80's. Though I was around in the '70's, my "formative years" were definitely in the '80's so I could relate more to the music, clothes, etc. from that era.

I definitely want to see this entire series on Blu, since it still hasn't been released to Region 1 (US) DVD. Too bad, since I actually find it slightly superior to LOM (both of the UK & US series are on Region 1 DVD).
