Default Harry's Law (Kathy Bates) -- New Series from David E. Kelley

Synopsis for Pilot, which airs tonight at 10pm on NBC after The Cape

Quote:

In the premiere episode, once-successful patent attorney Harriet Korn (Kathy Bates) is fired and decides to begin anew with her own practice. With the help of her happy-go-lucky secretary, Jenna (Brittany Snow), she sets up shop in an abandoned shoe store in a rough section of Cincinnati. Her first case is to defend Malcolm Davies (Aml Ameen), a troubled young man, facing his third drug offense. Meanwhile, up-and-coming attorney Adam Branch (Nate Corddry) joins the firm, and defends a "private security officer" after he shoots a man who is attempting to rob a laundromat.
Anyone checking this out tonight? I know it's on opposite Hawaii Five-O and that probably takes priority, but I like Kathy Bates and David E. Kelley is good at making a quirky law comedy, especially coming off Boston Legal. However, I'm not optimistic about this timeslot, especially once Castle returns next week with a new episode.

Plus, it's got Brittany Snow

Did anyone in this forum watch Harry's Law last week?

I thought it was a pretty good start for this show and the ratings were pretty good (11M viewers and over 2.1 in the demos).

Kathy Bates was solid as Harriet and I liked the tone of the show having some of the comedy of Boston Legal and some of the seriousness of The Practice.

I thought it was great that Jenna convinced Harriet to operate a shoe store/law firm. Always been a fan of Brittany Snow and I thought she was super cute/perky as Jenna.

Is anyone in this forum from Ohio? Do Cincinnati Cops really dress like that? They looked like members of a cruise ship.

It didn't surprise me that since this is a David E Kelley show that he would take his shots at Conservatives and Republicans.

Adam was very annoying in his case, but I couldn't help but laugh at how over the top he was. The final scene with Jenna talking about how it was meant to be that Harriet met Malcolm and Adam was great too, especially with Harriet flying through the air after getting hit by the car.

Mark Valley Nabs Big Role
Quote:
Mark Valley is reuniting with David E. Kelley. The former Boston Legal regular, who most recently starred on Fox's action drama Human Target before it got the ax last season, has landed a series-regular role in Kelley's Harry's Law on NBC. The deal has just closed, and he's scheduled to begin the new gig on the Warner Bros TV legal dramedy tomorrow; the Season 2 premiere is set for Sept. 21. He will play one of two new attorneys (joining fellow new castmember Karen Olivo) at the law firm run by Harriett "Harry" Korn (Kathy Bates). Christopher McDonald also recently joined the show as a regular; Alfred Molina and Jean Smart have signed on for early-season arcs. Valley, who happens to be a West Point grad and Gulf War veteran, recently wrapped Nu Image's Medallion alongside Nicolas Cage.
Christopher McDonald Passes Bar
Quote:
Christopher McDonald, whose character Tommy Jefferson recurred last season on NBC's Harry's Law, has been upped to series regular for the upcoming season, which kicks off Sept. 21 on a new night and time period: Wednesdays at 9 PM. It's the latest casting move for the legal drama, which last week added Tony winner Karen Olivo (West Side Story) as a regular, playing a new associate at the law firm run by Kathy Bates' Harry. The series, from David E. Kelley and Warner Bros TV, also inked a deal with former Law & Order: LA star Alfred Molina for a three-episode arc as a man accused of murdering his wife. McDonald, who also recently appeared on the small screen in HBO's Boardwalk Empire, is repped by Gersh, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Andrew E. Freedman Public Relations.

I don't think this is the most active thread for Harry's Law - else it just never got much interest here. I enjoyed the first seasons, but I don't mind the recasting at all. The excised cast members were largely useless after a while, and Mark Valley is AWESOME.

No, there is another thread on it too...just can't seem to find it....The first season was pretty good...good to see all the addition to the show.

I don't know this is the only thread for the show that comes up, even when you only search under the word 'Harry' so don't know what to tell you guys.

As casting choics go, I think he's a perfect fit for this; everyone else, however, is forgettable, and thus expendable.

Yeah man, I love this show. I have a lot of family in southern Louisiana, and according to my dad Troy also owns one of the biggest crawfish farms in the world.
