Disney Into The Woods (2014) Never in 3D

I didn't see anything that says yes but what a missed opportunity if it's not.

I wonder if it COULD get a 3D theatrical release overseas?? Transcendence got a theatrical 3D release in China only. Wonder if a similar release could happen with Into The Woods??

I'm not sure why people think this would or should be 3D. Despite what you may think from seeing the publicity, this is not a Disney animation spin-off like Alice in Wonderland or Malificent, it's a Sondheim musical for adults which deconstructs fairy tales (though reports suggest the film has been dumbed down for general audiences). When it comes to musicals, nobody has raised the art form more than Sondheim in the second half of the 20th century and this is sort of an anti-fairy tale. The cast, Sondheim and his songs are the main draw here.

:edit: Reading up on it, Disney has severely dumbed this down. As a fan of the show, I will probably give this a miss.

I'm familar with Sondheim. My wife and kids are involved in theater (my son played the wolf in his high school production). I love this musical (and Sweeney Todd). Something about the visuals though does make it seem a prime candidate for a 3D presentation. But your right...it's the music and story that are the main draw. One can always hope.

My family and I are planning on seeing this Christmas night. Looking forward to it.

Same with Noah, all other regions have a 3d blu-ray available except the USA.

Not true, some have a 3d blu-ray, most don't.

Also the directors previous film was a native 3d film (mostly) so it would have been nice to see him continue on with it.
