With the amazing job Classic Records did on the Zeppelin catalogue and the number of titles that have incredible original pressings, it's been hard to get excited about the Zeppelin remasters for me because I've been presuming they'll just be louder, and that we won't see source information for the vinyl, and no 5.1 mixes, etc.
Okay so there are no surround mixes which is a shame, but places like Music Direct now have their initial descriptions up and it's starting to sound promising. While it doesn't state how these were cut or whether the chain was all analogue, at least we know the vinyl was remastered from the original analogue tapes. For $24.99 compared to the $249.99 you're going to pay for a Classic 200g 33rpm sealed set, this might turn out to be a pretty joyous release campaign for vinyl fans. Quote:
