DVD to BR...LOTR and Matrix Box Sets?

Hello All

We recently had to get a new set when our plasma went out and went with a Sony Projector. To say the least the picture is huge and along with it finer details. I've been going thru lots of BR and even DVD's which some of my favorites are the Matrix and LOTR versions.. They're ok but it's obvious not the same as the BR discs.

I don't have anything to compare a movie which I have both DVD and BR versions but am thinking about getting the Box Set of Matrix and LOTR. Trouble is which one and is it really worth it or is something else coming or what.

The LOTR Set I've read about is the Extended Version and not the Theatrical Version is the one to get like here...

The Matrix is the one I'm unsure of and the only one I've seen is this one but I thought there were newer versions out there...

I just wanted to hear from anyone who did go from the DVD to BR versions, their thoughts if it were worth it or what and if they knew of any newer ones coming. Thanks for the help.
