I'm just watching it for the first time. Original language seams to be a mixture of Mandarin and Cantonese. Most actors spoke Mandarin while Stephen Chow spoke Cantonese. As the BD only offers one-language tracks, i chose Mandarin, because it uses the most sync sound. But it would have been great if they had done a hybrid track. Especially since Chow is mostly known for his Cantonese language comedy. But I guess Sony did not allow it?

Works fine on my end. If you are experiencing a similar issue on 2 different discs, chances are this could be set-up or player related. What player are you using?

I've watched both of those discs with no issues.

I'm really iffy on this one. Never seen it but remember when it was released here in the US for a bit in theaters.

It just doesn't look good or something that I'd blind buy on. I enjoy Chow's previous works but this one just gets me at a full stop that I dare not venture into yet.

I had never heard of CJ7 before the blu-ray announcement. Stephen Chow's comedy is hit and miss with me. When you throw in the annoying kids and cutesy CGI creature, the film fell short.

I avoided the film since it came out in 2007 and used the opportunity f it coming out from 88 to watch it for the first time. I was positively surprised. Yes, it has some of Chows whacky humor, some stupid scenes, and the digital effects are servicable but nothing to write home about. But apart from that the movie delivers a heartwarming, entertaining story with sympathetic characters and a positiv message for the whole family. Just give it a chance.

Although the picture quality hasn't seen a revolutionary improvement, the configuration is indeed very good, and the behind-the-scenes footage seems to be quite comprehensive.
