There is a US version of Sky Captain.
It was one of the original Paramount releases before they defected to HD DVD. I understood that there were a lot of unsold copies of the 34 or so Blu releases just sitting in wareshouses while they were exclusive to HD DVD, then when they made the announcement of returning to Blu, the original 34 titles were shipped back out and are current offerings.

If its not at your local Blu-Ray store, check Amazon or other online sites. I'm sure it's on ebay too.

It was on sale this past weekend at Fry's for 12.99

Paramount in the UK as far as I have seen with HD-DVD and blu-ray, they always given the same specs and versions the US have.

Resurrecting an extremely old thread as a new BD of this film has recently been released by Paramount in Germany and is now at bargain prices.

The old UK BD from Paramount is long since OOP but matched the US BD having lossy audio with DD 5.1 and the extras from the DVD. The US disk is still available.

The new release in Germany as with a few other Paramount films like the reissue of Italian Job (remake) gains lossless audio DTS-MAHD 5.1 but as is standard practice with back catalogue Paramount titles in Europe loses all the extras.

So you now have a choice better audio or extras.
