The audience for Matlock was notoriously old to begin with. Surely they're all dead by now. Who is this for?

Meh. It's a NAME IP + NAME STAR + ESTABLISHED FORMAT formula.

(It's not like Matlock is sacred to me. I think we're near the end of mining those NAME IPs. Maybe a Father Dowling Mystery reboot starring Liam Neeson?)

Yeah - this show is sort of the theme of many jokes about old folks needing to hit the early dinner buffet and some quick shopping so they can get home to catch Matlock before bedtime which is NO later than 9pm. Same for that Murder, She Wrote show. LOL.

Maybe they'll reboot that show too and have a guy replace Angela Lansbury?

This was about as generic a pilot as they come... until the last five minutes when they pull the rug right out from under you. Didn't see that coming at all. Kudos!

Also, it's set in a universe where the old Matlock tv series exists & they make jokes about the show & character, so even though they're selling it on the name, it's not really a reboot.

Kathy Bates is reliably solid as ever & the supporting cast wasn't too bad with a couple of recognisable faces. Nice to see my old Dead Zone crush Nicole de Boer again. Pity she's not a regular.

Overall then, not great, but not terrible either & that ending made me intrigued about the next one. I'll give it a few more episodes.

Does anybody know if this show is in 4K UHD. And does it include HDR?
