during the scene where the crew gets stuck in the street, a soldier see's a hand on the floor and picks it up. During that scene my picture skips around.

Just take it back to the store, they will exchange it for you as long as you get the same movie. If they give you any crap call the manufacturer and worse case scenario you will have to mail it to them for a replacement...but at $20 it is worth the hassle, plus the movie kicks ass!

mines plays flawlessly. its most likely a defect. do as stated above and trade for another copy. these things happen i guess. store should do it no problem.

what do you mean by skips? does the framerate judder, is there a strobelight effect, or does the screen go black?

Actually, my copy is still in the wrapper and I've had it for months. Guess I'll watch it and see.

Hmmm.... I love this movie and own it on 3 formats.... 3 disc DVD Deluxe Edition, UMD, and Blu-Ray. When you say, "skips around" are you referring to when the scene freezes, and all the sound stops for a second? If so, that is a part of the movie and not a defect. That scene freezes, right as he reloads on all 3 versions of the movie that I own.

OH WOW i did NOT know that. It just seemed so glitchy and out of the ordinary for me. Thanks for reassuring that.

Not sure if it is a defect or something, but in the scene 12:46 min in when Eric Bana's character is walking into the shooting range holding his gun, it looks like a bad photoshop job where you see an outline around his shape--like he was cut and pasted into the scene. Anyone else see or notice this?

Yeah, the first time I thought it was the new way that layer changes manifest themselves on Blu-ray or something. But after watching it several times it came to me that it's actually intentional on the part of Ridley Scott -- probably could have made it more obvious by removing all the sound except the heart beating or something, but that would be too corny.
