What you don't understand is corporate politics. Microsoft wants both formats to fail so they can be heroes and make the world move to digital downloads. That is the dirty secret no one is talking about. That is why Microsoft is handing out $100 million dollar checks to studios just embrace the HD DVD and not the leading, and superior Blu Ray. They want confusion in the market until they perfect the digital downloads. Time will tell and you will see the truth.

Thanks. Most of us knew his initial comments were his true feelings.

Now, the real question is, "What can Michael Bay as an influential Hollywood Director do about making sure Blu-Ray wins?"

I am disappointed to hear that Mr. Bay has chosen to only place his films in HDTV format and not the UK leading Blu Ray format. Having seen the quality of both my personal opinion is that Blu Ray is better.
Why have you chosen this format?
I and my friends all own PS3's and it’s easier and better to watch these films on our systems especially as the HDTV format players are too expensive here in the UK. I was looking forward to viewing the extra bonus material and quality that Blu Ray offers for the new release Transformers and I now can’t do that. Only having this system means that I am NOT going to buy Transformers or any of your future releases from you Mr. Bay or give into buying the HDTV system. i was also shocked to hear your decision you made so abruptly on your website.

It's unfortunate Michael Bay has been caught up in the middle. I love his movies but I can't and won't support hd dvd so I haven't bought Transformers. But as soon as it's released on blu ill be the first to buy one first because it's a good movie, second to support the man who speaks up for his convictions.

Welcome back. I only hope and pray that Michael Bay can be a voice for Blu-ray to help Paramount go back to supporting both formats. It is obvious who the winning format is, but until everyone is releasing their titles on it, we are all going to suffer.

Did you also post this in other forums?
I'd like to hear what HD-DVD or Microsoft fans are saying.

I always despised Microsrap and their "you have no choice" politics. I had a CPC6128 and an Amiga and at that time competition was to produce the better products.

Since Microsoft "invaded" the market, not by awesome products, but with money spreading to retailers and advertisement, they've only produced the lesser developed product, keeping the technology for their own use and freedom to unleash it when they want for a price.

One of the worst things I've seen was a patch for Windows you had to pay to fix Windows ... No wonder imagining the flaws were there to make the consumer pay more ...

And the recurring "rumor" about Bill Gates having co-developed a disc operating system with friends and buying it to them for almost nothing, knowing it would be revolutionary, and becoming rich with that is no surprise.

Hopefully people won't be interested by HD download : first people like to have something material when they spend money, they don't like to wait (how much time to download a 40Gb file) and they may download it for free anyway ...

Seeing Microcrap get a 2 billion fine for selling defective X360 is reassuring, but the most important is to stop buying blindly their inferior products (those who have used Amiga understand what I'm saying).

If some Directors and Distributors can show Microcrap the exit door, it'd be soooo nice.

Digital Downloads are no where close to ready for mass market imo.
They do not come close to the quality of Blu-ray, or even HD DVD. BD uses 50 GB for a reason, and these downloaded movies are often closer to 1 GB. Huge compression, low quality, bad sound, no surround sound, no menus and extras. I KNOW that M$ has tried this kind of thing in the past, but thanks to Apple, they have not won. In fact, they tried to stop Apple's quicktime from working on their computers, and I would not be surprised if they try the same thing with iTunes. Apple learned and made it work and released the iPod, and M$ copies them with the Zune and M$ store and other BS that just does not work nearly as well.

We can fight M$ and win. M$ is not all they are made up to be, and they can be defeated. Blu-ray is winning this war, and if no more setbacks occur, like payoffs and the like, then BD can win this in 2008.
Keep the faith and digital downloads will remain a niche product only a few computer geeks use.

Nice to see Mr. Bay speaking his mind again.

Just for the record, if Transformers was out on Blu-ray I would buy it in a second.

I've sent a link to Michael's comment to "The Register". They love some Microsoft bashing over there

Let's all help get his comments out to a wider audience. I think having a big name director extol the virtues (yet again) of the Blu-ray format can only help.

I love Bay movies. I've bought Pearl Harbor on blu of course and would buy the Island and Transformers in a heartbeat if they were blu too. Keep it up, MB!
