prepres wrote (from Bhaag Milkha Bhaag thread)
“I may buy this version as I didn't buy Shame-aroo version because of watermark. Even I haven't any Shame-aroo title except Sarfarosh (just to check their old title Blu-ray). If they re-release all titles without watermark, I WILL buy their mostly good titles like Ishqiya, Queen, Madras Cafe, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Kahaani, The Dirty Picture, Baghban etc.” When I saw the above statement, I decided to share my tricks and workarounds to solve the problems of Indian Blu-rays. These are my personal ways of dealings with these issues. These are not for everyone. I’ll like to hear from other members if they have any tips or tricks to share. I need to explain a little bit about my HT first. It’s a 132” screen projector based 7.2 system. Oppo BDP-103D is at its heart. Everything (dish, cable, Apple TV, Fire TV etc) is connected through a HDMI (5/1) switch to Oppo. Oppo’s 1st HDMI output is connected to the projector while the 2nd output is connected to the receiver. Two hard drives (5 and 4 TBs) are connected to two usb ports of Oppo. All the BDs/DVDs are backed up as mkv files on these drives. The whole system is controlled by a Harmony Ultimate One remote. Info and Green buttons on the remote are set to Oppos Info and Zoom. Watermarks: I hate WMs as much as prepres does. The only reason I can think of having WMs is that these manufacturers are superstitious. When I didn’t have my Oppo blu-ray player, I’ll stick a black piece of paper with a 2-sided tape on the WM. Now I use Oppo’s zoom feature to get rid of or move it. It doesn’t change the original OAR. You lose picture on sides. Fit is my preferable mode. In this mode Shame-aroo moves to the bottom. Most of the movies I have already seen in theaters so now I can watch the songs this way. Here are some shots: QN_01.jpg QN_02.jpg And you prepres, you should buy these Shame-aroo’s BDs just for audio. Queen is 7.1. I turn off the projector and just listen to the songs. Songs: Only songs are a repeat value for me on these disks. But those are spread on a number of chapters. As I’m not using the actual disks, it makes it very hard for me to jump to songs. First I used to extract them. But now I create new chapters on the mkv files, each one starting with a song. This way I can jump between the songs using chapter buttons on the remote. Poor Video: There are not too many of them. It usually applies to DVDs/Dish non-hd channels. I can watch them at 50% zoom. General: I store my disks in plastic sleeves in boxes and in chronological order. Covers are scanned and saved as pictures on those connected drives. |
