Who here is a fan? I only own Ten right now and am giving it a serious listen and Black is such an amazing song, are all their albums pretty good? I've heard nothing but good things.

I'm a big fan of Pearl Jam and 'Ten' is my favorite album by them, one of my favorite albums ever actually. 'Jeremy' is definitely my favorite track on that record, the lyrics are so deep on that song. All of their albums are great, both musically and lyrically. I would love to see them live! Have you moved onto their second record, 'Vs.' yet?

Ten, Vs. and Vitalogy are 5 out of 5 albums for me. No Code, Backspacer and the new one Lightning Bolt are easily 4 out of 5. The others all have great tracks on them too. I recommend getting them all. Then once you have absorbed those get Lost Dogs and then start searching out for the zillion bootleg sets. One of the all time great bands, IMO.

I never knew any of the songs they did before a year ago. I only have two songs from them on iTunes, Alive and Yellow Ledbetter. I could listen to YL over and over and over. Not sure if I'll ever get a full album from them.

At minimum, VS. and VITALOGY (my personal favorite of the band's) must be added to your collection. None of their subsequent albums reached those heights, but they all have their virtues. Their latest album, LIGHTNING BOLT, has quickly moved up to fourth place in my personal PJ rankings. Really amazing that they can deliver an album this enjoyable and consistent this far into their career.

I'm a very casual fan. I like 'em, but only own the hits collection.

Really thinking about picking up the rest of their albums as I have found them all on sale in various places. Could get them for about $65 total.

One of my top 5 favorite bands, each album has its own unique sound.

I'd personally rank their albums:

Yield
Vitalogy
Vs.
No Code
Ten
Binaural
Backspacer
Lightning Bolt
Riot Act
Pearl Jam

If you love those two tracks you'll likely love all of Ten, there isn't a bad song on there. Love the way the album flows, my fave Pearl Jam album and one of my top 5 albums of the entire 90s.

Garden and Release are probably my fave tracks from Ten, but Deep is pretty sick too, and Why Go? I loved Pearl Jam in 1992, kind of lost me beginning with No Code but I didn't find Vitalogy had great legs either, although Nothing Man is an amazing track.

Vs. is my 2nd fave album, one or two songs I'm not keen on but I like most of it. wma = kickass.

I was a junior in HS when Ten and Nevermind were released. Good times. I remember listening to them and my hair metal CDs and tapes pretty much lost their luster over night.

They've been my favorite band since probably 1994. Loved them since I first heard them in 1992. I am actually seeing them in concert in a few weeks!

I agree with you regarding "Black" - it is an amazing song. It's my favourite track on Ten as I generally prefer their ballads and acoustic songs.

Vs. and Yield are a good starting point for anyone new to PJ. Vitalogy is a bit of a strange one though, because it contains some of Pearl Jam's best work, yet it also has "Bugs" and "Hey Foxymophandlemama, That's Me."

Been a fan going back to 1992, which is the first year I saw them live. Seen them about 50 times over the years, met my wife during the 2000 tour where I was doing a 2 week stretch of shows, and have pretty much every circulating recording going back to the beginning.

In recent years I've found myself not listening to them that much. I've developed many other musical interests, but I suppose they will always be that old favorite. Will be attending the San Diego and LA shows next week and admit that I am looking forward to it.

1993-1998 was the definite peak in my opinion, both live and studio, with Vitalogy, No Code, Yield, and VS being the top 4 albums.

that No Code, Yield, Binaural time period was their best IMO. (1996-2000). Pick up those albums.

The early stuff is obviously amazing as well. Very fierce, intense, etc. But the albums above are where they settled into something unique.

Riot Act, self titled, Backspacer, and Lightning Bolt are all pretty good. Lightning Bolt being the best of the 21st century bunch.
