Hmmm...

1. The Duff, looks like a very unfunny film.

2. HTTM2... Liked the first one but may very well wait to watch this one at home.

3. McFarland... Another ridiculous "white guy comes to save the poor helpless minority" film. Is Hollywood somehow obligated to put one of these out every few years?

I think I'll go see Kingsman and leave 50SoG to the girls.

Of the new releases, I voted for the Costner. As I am almost always wrong, that means that it clearly won't take the week.

Go on, I'll go optimistic, 50 Shades has a huge drop off and Kingsmen takes the weekend with a slightly higher number. Doubtful, but wishful thinking has never hurt anyone.

Honestly wouldn't be surprised to see Kingsman or Spongebob take it.

50 Shades of Grey $27 million
Kingsman $17 million
Spongebob $16 million
American Sniper $13 million
Hot Tub Time Machine 2 $11 million
McFarland, U.S.A. $10 million
The DUFF $3 million (I have not seen one trailer or TV/online spot for this, I'm surprised that Lionsgate is going with 2,500 theatres on it)

I've seen the trailer a few times, TV ads all the time. I think it looks a tad insensitive.

Id love to see HTTM2 take #1!

Variety just reported all three are in the $8-9 million range for the weekend. 50 Shades of Grey is expected to finish at $8.5 million today and $25 million for the weekend.

The DUFF is probably overperforming (in comparison to the $5-7 million tracking estimates) due to the hundreds of free word-of-mouth screenings that were held last week (which is probably why Lionsgate didn't promote it traditionally).
