Default Maiku Hama Private Eye Trilogy

This has been released as a 4K blu-ray in Japan (last year); unfortunately without any sub-titles.
Any indication if an English language sub-titled version is in the works?
This past week the japan Society in NYC showed an English language sub-titled 4K version.

there's quite a number of older japanese films receiving 4K restorations, and lists of them can be found in various places, but this cannot be taken as indication of a definite release on UHD. some have had outlets at festivals, some are just listed as available to licenses. the real cause of whether something appears is if a label finds a film to be of potential value to them, because it might be of potential value to buyers of their releases.

the problem there would seem to be that UHD has not taken off as many seem to believe. experience will vary, but if you've entered into buying relatively recently, during BD's years, it might seem like it's inevitable. if you've seen the transition from one format to the next before, you might notice BD's appearance intersected much more with the loss of much of the DVD buying public's transition to streaming instead. every format has appearances from films that never repeat, too.

now BD is more than established, and streaming is too, UHD has had an even harder time of things. the oddest of films that have appeared on UHD are clearly in a tiny minority. mostly they seem to be sold by the smallest of labels, targeted to collectors, so the people who buy from them feel like everything's good because it's working out for them - despite their reliance upon that labels curation for their choices far more than most will ever do.

this series of films didn't make it to blu-ray with subtitles, so i'd say they're amongst the majority of films that don't have to reputation to reliably get another physical release. always prepared to be surprised though, and keep your eye out in more places than you might be used to looking, as they're so increasingly rare that people are often buying from all over the world in expectation there may not be another edition on a more familiar label, or within their domestic market ... which reminds me of the very early days of DVD, when not much was around.

For clarification purposes, it wasn't 4K UHD, it was 4K restoration on regular Blu-ray.
