United Kingdom The Mask (1994)

Looks like it's getting a re-release from Warner, out 6th June 2011. I have the original EIV disc, which isn't too bad. The transfer's good enough, and if it's just a re-release of the same previous disc then obviously I'll pass. But if this is a completely new release with a better transfer and maybe some new extras then I'll double dip when it's at a reasonable price.

It'll probably nicer artwork without quotes plastered all over the case like EIV tend to do.

Default The Mask

I bought the re-release of this great movie on dvd.
the quality of picture is excellent, also the studio provided a 6.1 DTS ES soundtrack aswell as Dolby Digital EX.

This movie underwent a restoration of sorts and produced a very good product.
I am pretty sure the blu ray version of The Mask will be up to the mark, If not, I'll avoid it.

I bought that aswell. Some might shoot me for this, but for me The Mask is Carey's best. I thought about going for the blu-ray, but I reckon I'll hold off for this Warner one now though.

Default The Mask problems

Watched The Mask last night it was brand new. First of all wouldn't play on my ps3 i got an error message. Then it played but kept skipping and getting stuck . I've never had any problems with other discs i was wondering if anyone else has had problems with it.Its no surprise they're re-releasing it. Also it says 2.35:1 on the back and it filled the screen.

Have you tried it on a standalone blu-ray player?

Could be a disc read error on the PS3.

No problems playing mine whatsoever. As for re-releasing it, it's Warner Bros who has the rights now - that's why. The Entertainment in Video transfer is (to my knowledge) the same as the Warner Bros one in the US so it's not like that will change with the newer release.

Regarding the aspect ratio, the film is 1.85:1 and as is standard Warner Bros practice for films of that ratio it has been opened up to 1.78:1. The details on the back of the cover are wrong. It's not 2.35:1 and it's not supposed to be.

Apparently this is already out (play.com, thehut.com and zavvi.com are selling it) can anyone confirm the audio and subtitles present on the disc? Please

EDIT: apparently those 3 websites changed the stock information and are no longer selling this title.

I'll be getting this, when the price goes down anyway. It's a pretty decent film.

Warner probably got the rights back from EIV.
