Default Hitchcock/Truffaut

Anyone know if this is getting a BD release? There's a DVD listing for it on Amazon.

I don't think so: Dogwoof are handling it (they cover most documentaries in the UK) and only seem to do Blu-ray's for docs that are getting awards or festival attention. It's tough to try and sell documentaries to the UK market - I noticed even Alex Gibney's films get studio Blu-ray releases now, and those have dropped in price pretty quickly so that may indicate they're not selling that well.

In fact, last year the only Blu-ray release from Dogwoof was The Look of Silence (and quite rightly), which makes sense as I got the impression their previous Blu-ray titles like Chasing Ice, Leviathan and Nas: Time is Illmatic didn't sell as well as they'd hoped (but The Act of Killing and Blackfish did). I reckon Hitchcock/Truffaut would sell a bit better than most of those on Blu-ray, but it's still a bit of a gamble. It's a shame, because they have released several films I would've liked to have got on Blu-ray but am forced to get on DVD (Citizenfour, Manakamana, Tabloid etc).

This is so disappointing. I am really looking forward to this... I see there is a French BD though.

I just got back from watching a double bill of Psycho and Hitchcock/Truffaut. It is a jolly good documentary: full of clips from Hitchcock's films (and some of Truffaut's). Many directors talk about the book and the films; highly recommended if you like Hitch, Truffaut and/or the the book (so, probably everyone who chooses to read this thread).

It is a shame it isn't getting a BD release here. I cannot see an entry for a French BD here in the database or at amazon.fr - is it really being released there on BD?
