I've put off adding my collection to this site for a long time due to the hassle of being a Canadian, but I'm starting to go through my collection now and trying to add titles and correct titles in the database, since I have a lot of reissues or Canadian releases that are not in the database or are incorrect.
Given that the reissues really have changes and should be separate entries to properly reflect collector's collections (the most common changes being that the digital options have changed and that the artwork has been changed as a result, along with a new copyright date), I've been adding these as new entries. This obviously is a pain, since they can often have the same UPC and the same ASIN with Amazon. Unfortunately this site doesn't allow different database entries to share the same ASIN. Given Amazon's mess of a system, this should really be allowed. After all, you want people to click on your Amazon affiliate links, don't you? My main point. A lot of times the only clue I have for the release date of these reissues is the updated copyright date on the trapsheet. Because of this, I suggest that you allow the release date to specify only a year but with the month and date being blank. Otherwise, I have to put January 1. The same situation would occur with old titles I have that aren't reflected in the database either, especially with DVDs. I'd like to do all my DVDs after I do my Blu-rays. |

So I was just fixing some specs on a DVD, and I noticed a field "Release date alt"
Then I went back to the Blu-rays I was editing before, but this field doesn't exist for them. So it seems this site already has a solution to the issues I was describing, but it's not applied for Blu-rays? Could it be added for Blu-rays as well? |
