I watched the BluRay of The Elephant Man the other night, and having seen the film several times before I know it pretty well.
For example, I remember a short piece at the start, part of a montage of the London of the period, in which we see smoke-stacks billowing smoke. I remember it because in the DVD the contrast is rather high and there is a black foggy border around the chimneys, the kind of artifact you get when processing black-and-white film if you over-process it. In the Blu Ray that shot is missing. Is it common practice to remove certain scenes from films when transferring them to BluRay? |
