Metrodome scaling back on Blu Ray? - Blu-ray Forum

I've been noticing that a few recent Metrodome releases of foreign language titles have been DVD only. Last year's We are the Best! and In Order of Disapparance were high profile enough to get cinema distribution, but had no Blu Ray,and now I see that the excellent White God only lists a DVD release on Amazon.

they don't even send blu-ray screeners to reviewers

They've also had quite a few staff cutbacks in the last year. I don't think they're doing too well.

Far too happy to let certain titles die a death on DVD, languishing on supermarket bottom shelves.

God Help The Girl got a DVD only release in the UK from Metrodome. Luckily, Germany got an English friendly Blu-ray release.

Sadly, they probably will. As the OP said, they went DVD only with We Are the Best! and, now, White God - two films of similar stature and, arguably, more marketability.

Ever since We Are the Best, I've been disappointed when noticing that a film was with Metrodome.

I liked it but you must really like Belle & Sebastian and have a high threshold for cutesy tweeness or you will hate it.

Sadly, this is indeed listed for a DVD only release. Maybe there's still time to lobby them with e-mails to change their mind, though I get the sense that they're a rather faceless corporation.

Noticed it's on Netflix, if you have that. I personally never 'loved' B&S, just a couple of songs that were catchy...I'll be giving it a miss myself.

HD versions of their more recent films have been on iTunes. What We Do in the Shadows and The Strange Colour of Your Body's Tears were preorders for me.

They also have the rights to the excellent Electric Boogaloo: The Untold Story of Canon Films which is a must see for anyone interested in genre films.

I was really hoping for White God on blu ray. Very disappointed with a DVD release only on that one.
