So, is Moonrise Kingdom still his best film?

Take all of his movies, put them in a box and hide them or better yet throw them in the garbage! No need for 4K versions as there are so many better movies more deserving. This is my honest opinion which is about to suffer some wrath I figure? I just want to provide balance in the discussion

I tend to agree. His films look a very specific way, especially exaggerated post-Rushmore, and maybe he worries what an HDR or Dolby Vision pass would do to the look of his films. On the flipside he probably knows that consumers will crap all over a 4K disc, and ultimately not buy it if it doesn't include HDR or Dolby Vision.

I also think part of it could be that he keeps extremely busy, so maybe he's comfortable with the format, but he just hasn't had the time to sit down and oversee or approve 4k restorations. I think they'll arrive eventually (especially considering his relationship with Criterion), but I'm not holding my breath. |

Anderson is probably my favourite filmmaker. I love his style, quirky characters and how you know when you're in an Anderson film.
I highly suggest picking up the Wes Anderson Collection hardcover books. The first one covers Bottlerocket to Moonrise Kingdom and everything after that got it's own book (I've yet to pick up Asteroid City as it's a bit costly right now). They also released a book called BAD DADS, which is basically a book of art based on Anderson Films that was an exhibit. It's pretty interesting but the books on the films are filled with so much info, interviews, films that inspired Anderson, art, set photos, etc. They really are great! I also suggest snagging the Accidentally Wes Anderson photo books. |

I saw Bottle Rocket in the 90’s, and I still think it is the best movie of that decade.
I don’t care for the Wes Anderson films that followed. If it is ever released on 4K disc, I hope the color timing is better than the Criterion release. |

Interesting. I find Bottle Rocket to be the this bizarro world Anderson flick as his style really started kicking in, IMO, during Rushmore. Bottle Rocket is indeed great, however.
