Despite the mediocre reviews for this, I found it quite enjoyable. Definitely one for fans of Lehane scripts (especially Mystic River and Gone Baby Gone). Reminds me, I've still not watched the director's previous film Bullhead (also starring Schoenaerts).

I've had the US blu for a couple of months. Pretty good film, would I watch it again? yes but not anytime soon. I do wish Gandolfini's last film was a little bit more substantial though.

I was so excited for this movie. Honestly, cannot think of anything I've ever been more excited for. Gandolfini is one of my all time favourite actors and I was devastated by his death. The film, from the trailers, just looked so immense, I just couldn't wait. I finally got to see it, and just as I'd never been so excited for a film, I'd also never been so disappointed by one. Personally I don't think the film is anything like what the trailers advertised. It's not a bad movie, but it's not what you think it's gonna be. Hardy and Rapace's performance felt a little off to me, but Gandolfini and Schoenaertz were on top form. At the end of the day, it's not quite the dark crime thriller advertised, but rather a film about Tom Hardy learning how to look after a dog.

Saying all that though, I think I'd like to watch it again on Blu-Ray, like without all those expectations and hopes, now that I know what it is and see if I can appreciate it more this time around
