If you play a gamecube game on the Wii, is there a chance that you could play with a cordless gamecube controller? The way you would do this is by taking a gamecube shell that would have the wii remote slide into it to act as a cord. The reason that I'm asking is because other then the light gun shell for the duck hunt game, there are no other shells out right now. I don't think that there will be a gamecube controller shell because if there was then why use the ones with cords?

You can use the Wavebird (the Nintendo wireless Gamecube controller) on the Wii, as the Wii has 4 Gamecube controller ports. There will be no Gamecube shell for the Wiimote. Nor will there be classic controller shells for the Virtual Console. The replica classic controllers will plug in to the end of the Wiimote, where the nunchuck will go for new Wii games.

You're saying that the virtual console controller will plug into the bottom of the wii remote?

Yes. The Wiimote isn't just a controller, it's also a port for other controllers. You've seen pictures or videos of people using the Wiimote and nunchuck, right? The nunchuck is plugged in to the bottom of the Wiimote. When you play a Virtual Console game, the classic controller will plug in at the bottom, in place of the nunchuck. So you won't use the Wiimote for control, but the Wiimote will send the wireless signals for you to play the game. A pretty ingenious system, actually.

I know what you mean. With shooting games, the wii remote slides into a light gun shell which you hold. For the virtual console gamepad, the wii remote would go into the top to act as a cord. The setup would look a little odd at first. A very well designed system. I wonder if you would flip a switch for anything. Like if I was playing a shooting game, would I flip a switch on the wii remote? Maybe not?

What I mean is would you flip a switch for a different mode. Like if I was playing a virtual console game, would I flip a switch for a transmit mode instead of a play mode? What I'm saying is that when you use a shell for the remote, you just set it up and play?

Your confusing yourself.
Game cube games play with game cube controllers wired or wirless, you can't play them with Wii controllers, even the standard controller. The light gun-ish adapter for the Wiimote is more of a feel rather than a seperate controler. What i meedn is that all "Light Gun" games can be played via Wii mote without the need for the light gun shell. The amming and the B trigger can be used just fine. The Gun shell is is mearly to transform the shape of the Wii mote to be able to use it as a gun rather than a pointer. Trigger on the gun shell inputs the same command as B trigger. If you own a HDTV you will know that Light Guns don't work on them, only the pointing capabilities of Wii mote can simulate "Light Gun games on HDTV". As for more attatchments for Wii mote, the microphone is almost definate. More intresting attachments will surfice as time goes on. |
