Default Zen Pinball 2 for PS4

Zen Pinball 2 Coming to PS4 on December 17th

Quote:
It’s Pinball time on PS4! Zen Pinball 2 will launch on December 17th for PS4, featuring a selection of tables from the previous generation’s table library. If you already own these tables on PS3 or PS Vita, we invite you to download them for FREE on PS4.
For those of you that have never played Zen Pinball, the Sorcerer’s Lair table is absolutely free for all players, giving you the opportunity to try the game risk free.
Additionally, Marvel’s Doctor Strange will launch as brand new content. That’s right; the Sorcerer Supreme will be day one content for Zen Pinball 2 on PS4 for $2.99. If you haven’t purchased a PS4 yet, Doctor Strange will also be available in Zen Pinball 2 on PS3 and PS Vita for $2.99.
Quote:
Here’s the table lineup for Zen Pinball 2 on PS4:
  • Star Wars Pinball
  • Star Wars Pinball: Balance of the Force
  • Marvel Pinball
  • Marvel Pinball:Avengers Chronicles
  • Marvel’s Doctor Strange
  • Plants vs. Zombies Pinball
  • Epic Quest
  • Paranormal
  • Earth Defense
Zen Studios has HUGE plans for pinball in 2014, including more Star Wars Pinball and Marvel Pinball tables, as well as tables based on more iconic and exciting brands. We can’t wait to share all the pinball goodness!

Awesome news! It should be even more enjoyable on the PS4 since the L2/R2 triggers are much better on the DS4! And another game I can delete on the PS3!

This is good news. I like to play these with the wife and kids. I especially like the part that if you already own them you won't have to rebuy. I would like to see a lot more games do that.

Pleased to see that they are offering the tables for free if you already had them on PS3/Vita! That is AWESOME!

Gotta love Zen, always looking out for the fans with Cross-Buy. It's awesome knowing that when I get my PS4 I'll have the glorious ZP2 sitting there waiting for me Starting to feel like the Vita (I had tons of games waiting for me before I got one last year).

I can see this being a lot of fun. I found a pinball game on my old computer and got a little addicted to it for a while. And that was nothing like this pinball...

I think this is an automatic buy for my new PS4 on opening day tomorrow, (big pinball fan) I did not own this or any pinball game for my PS3, are they worth a buy for that platform too?

Does anyone recommend buying this as a direct download or as a disc purchase? Or is it even available in disc.

thanks

It's a cross-buy game, you buy 1 version you get the others for free:

Actually you get the game for free on any system. You just import the tables you have already purchased when you install the game on a new platform.

Are the tables cheaper on PS3 maybe (since older)?

This is released in europe on 18th I think. Will buy it for sure. Already own many tables on xbox360 and only a few older on PS3 so will have to buy them all.

So Am I better off buying this game on PS3, and then migrating to PS4, or just buy them on PS4....and be done with it. Will I be able to download the game for PS3 after the fact???

Makes sense since Pinball Arcade is scheduled for an update today in the store.

Here's your answer from the PlayStation Blog:

Quote:
There are a few details that we really need you all to pay close attention to so you have a smooth transition from PS3 to PS4. As you may have read in the announcement post, if you bought the tables coming to PS4 in Zen Pinball 2 on PS3 or PS Vita, you can import those to Zen Pinball 2 on PS4 at no charge. Here are more details on how that works:

The tables can only import from Zen Pinball 2 > Zen Pinball 2. You cannot import from Marvel Pinball or Star Wars Pinball on PS3 > Zen Pinball 2 on PS4. You CAN import from Marvel or Star Wars Pinball on PS3 > Zen Pinball 2 on PS3 and then > PS4.

There is no going backwards from PS4 > PS3. If you want to play the tables on PS3 in the future, we suggest you buy them on PS3 first and then import to PS4.

For those of you who downloaded any of the applicable tables via PS+, you can import to PS4 just the same. However, if your PS+ account expires, you will lose access to the content.

Thanks Derb!
I just downloaded Pinball Arcade and I'm in 7th heaven.

Plays and looks perfect. I can honestly say that, for me, this game more than justifies getting a PS4 on launch day.
Pinball perfection.

Now bring on Zen Pinball for the cherry on top!

So, according to the blog, this was the only new release for this week but I'm not seeing it at the store. Did it get delayed for the US again?

Edit: Okay, I'm an idiot. I was thinking today was Tuesday and it was only Monday.

The store always updates on Tuesday except for rare occasions like some E3 updates or when a game like Gran Turismo 6 launched on a Friday (Although stuff like that is just adding those specific games and not really a store update).

Don't think it would have been delayed because of that. They have nothing to worry about with Pinball Arcade. This was already the more popular of the two and the cross buy DLC will bury PA. Really lame the developer of that are acting like they had to go out of their way to allow for a discount on the DLC for people that bought it when this has the DLC carry over.

It's just a wise marketing plan to not release 2 near identical games that don't share mass acceptance. It's not a popularity contest. I'm still kinda surprised they are released within only a week from one another.

So is Zen better in your opinion? I don't remember the PS3 version.. only played a bit when it was free.

Looking forward to Zen Pinball 2 tomorrow. I have all the tables except for Dr. Strange I think. Maybe another one. Last one I bought was one of the Star Wars ones, so maybe there's more Star Wars tables I don't have, but I have everything before that.

I wish that Pinball Arcade would bring in the regular Pin*Bot game. That is my favorite pinball game of all time. They have Bride of Pin*Bot, but it's nowhere near as good. :-(
