Default Which of these would be the best blind buy?

I'm getting The Dirty Dozen on the Amazon Warner BOGO. I haven't seen any of these movies before (a sin I know), but I think I will go with one of these. Rio Bravo, The Searchers, Wild Bunch or Battle of the Bulge.

Never seen the Wild Bunch. And I own the rest of these but Dirty Dozen. The Searchers made the most lasting impression on me. Technicolor + VIstavision + remaster = wow.

I'm thinking about picking up DIrty Dozen, but the reportedly lackluster transfer has given me pause.

Rio Bravo got a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/rio_bravo/
The Searchers got a 98% on R.T: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/searchers/
The Wild Bunch got a 97%: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/1059489-wild_bunch/
You can't go wrong with any of those.
Battle of the Bulge only got a 67% rating: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/1001..._of_the_bulge/

the transfer is not breath taking but you get two films on the one disc and the dirty dozen is a really great film .

He already said he's getting The Dirty Dozen.
Thanks for that, though, as now I'm headed to amazon to get it along with the Fugitive.

haha yeah, i was kinda thinking....uhhh. thanks guys, i think i'll be getting The Searchers...my roommate convinced me that I should get that or Rio Bravo because he loved those as a kid, and The Searchers seems to be widely respected.

I have both searchers AND dirty dozen... "lackluster" doesn't describe DD... "disappointing" does

"The Searchers" on the other hand...
To us a single word - "WOW"

Dirty Dozen without a doubt. It is the ultimate "guy" movie. The others there are caveats. The Wild Bunch is a very bleak and violent movie. It was threatened with an X rating at the time, but certainly is no more violent that many things released today. Rio Bravo is a much more mainstream western. The Searchers is a more intellectual western with very nuanced performances. If I had to recommend two to somebody not knowing their tastes, I would say The Dirty Dozen and Rio Bravo.

I agree, it is the ultimate guy movie, but if the PQ on BD is the same as the PQ of a DVD, whats the use?

I agree with supporting warner, but lets support the good work they have done, not just any old crappy transfer.
