With the rise of TV threatening moviegoing, wider screens became Hollywood’s way to combat that competition. M-G-M went all in and placed their bets on the new CinemaScope process. In addition to their feature films, the studio emboldened their cartoon unit run by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera - and their Oscar® winning series of Tom and Jerry™ shorts. The new visual approach to the famous team’s animated adventures was artistically refreshing - and won sweeping popular success with audiences. This set includes all 23 of these wide-screen wonders – collected together for the first time on Blu-ray™ as originally seen in theatres. Also included are Hanna & Barbera’s two stand-alone Spike & Tyke cartoons - and their Oscar®-nominated Good Will To Men. Animated, Anamorphic, and Amazing! The ultimate chase - continues!

The Collection contains:
1. PETE PEEVE (1954)
2. TOUCHÈ PUSSYCAT (1954)
3. SOUTHBOUND DUCKLING (1955)
4. PUP ON A PICNIC (1955)

Not only that, we're going to finally get the Spike and Tyke cartoons on home media for the first time. Epic win for the series and collectors like us! I just hope that the Droopy CinemaScope cartoons aren't just out of luck now to be on Blu-ray.

For reference, this is from Warner Archive, not Warner Home Video. Also seems to be for the duo's 85th anniversary. Not sure if Warner Home Video still has cold feet with their theatrical short releases.

Spike and Tyke finally finding an official release is cool! I'll probably pick this up to support future WA animation releases, even if I'm not a huge fan of the Cinemascope T&J's. Honestly I might also/only pick up their rerelease of Golden Collection Vol. 1. Maybe that'll convince them to release volume 2 at long last...

I would rather a complete redo of the T&Js for BD at this point. The HD masters made 10 years ago, even then, look really bad, and often sourced from faded TV Metrocolor (Eastman) Masters. HEAVENLY PUSS is the most brutal example

I think that "85 years" logo is significant; I have a feeling we'll be seeing more T&J collections on BD in 2025.

This, but also uncropped too, as it would resolve another problem of missing picture that also plagued the first two installments of the Looney Tunes Super Stars sets. Not to mention that Boomerang actually airs these cropped versions.

Damn.
I'm trying to cut back, and I already have the 5 main T&J DVD sets but I love CinemaScope animation so I'll have to get this one.

There's HD full-screen versions available on other platforms that look fantastic so there's not a ton of work that would need to be done!

Really hoping the Golden Collection 2 finally makes it's way out this year. Heck I'd settle for the Chuck Jones shorts (which I love to pieces honestly)

The Chuck Jones Tom and Jerry cartoons, with their beautiful animation and striking art direction, would look incredible in HD!

Finally, somebody else who would kill to have the Jones shorts on Blu-ray. Here's hoping this is the start of something wonderful, as the first new release of Tom and Jerry shorts in a decade.

Though, it would be cool if they had put Millionaire Droopy and Cat's Meow on here, the latter especially as it hasn't shown up anywhere since the Tex Avery LaserDisc collection from back in the Stone Age. I'm not complaining, and I might preorder the set if it becomes available and the price isn't too bad.

Not only that, I'd also like for them to track down as many of the original titles for these shorts as they can, like they did with many of the Looney Tunes shorts that were reissued as Blue Ribbon titles.

Hope the sales for this set convinces WB to release the other Tom & Jerry eras on Blu-ray.
Golden Collection Vol. 2 & Chuck Jones Era announcements would be so peak.

Here's hoping we get some HD love shown to Harman-Ising too...along with that lumbering ursus Barney Bear! I would also enjoy seeing MGM's B&W cartoons and one-shots get some attention as well. So many gems yet to be restored and rediscovered!

I agree, the Happy Harmonies and pre-Avery MGM stuff have waited long enough. They could definitely benefit from restoration. And since this is a set that doesn't require any new restoration work (with all the cartoons having been restored 15+ years ago), this could be a test to see if people will show interest in future sets.

Very exciting. Glad they mentioned there will be Mono and Stereo tracks. The first 3 cartoons on this lists are the ones with Stereo mixes on DVD or Streaming, but I'll be curious if more do on this set.
