United Kingdom Trouble With the Curve

Trouble With the Curve appears to be getting a Blu-ray release in the UK and Ireland in August 2014. A DVD-only release was already available from Warner Bros. so I don't know if it will happen. Hopefully it will, though.

Well, this never ended up getting a separate BD release. 42 also never got one here, just DVD only. Shame on Warner for denying us local BD's for these two fantastic films (42 in particular!)

Importing from Germany is expensive, and as a principle (albeit a significantly unimportant one) we shouldn't have to.

Warner obviously think the market for baseball films in the UK is too small to bother with BD. It's the same with Lions Gate and the NFL film Draft Day, where at the NFL games at Wembley this year they were promoting it on the screens as digital. It gets a DVD only, no BD release next year. Again for that if you want BD there is a Scandinavian RB version as the U.S. is RA locked.

It's a shame that studios might think like that, after all these movies aren't primarily about the sport but the story of the characters, studios didn't balk at releasing Field of Dreams or Any Given Sunday on blu-ray so why with these movies which still feature surprisingly well known names from Clint, Amy Adams and Justin Timberlake to Kevin Costner and Jennifer Garner in Draft Day (which is also directed by Ivan Reitman)
