![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Amazon.co.jp is taking pre-orders for Doug Liman's Edge of Tomorrow, starring Tom Cruise. In Japan, the film is known by the name of the Japanese novel it is based on: All You Need is Kill (2014). All editions will release on November 12, 2014. The 3D version claims to be "初回数量限定生産" (Google: "first limited quantity production") which could mean there are additional benefits to this edition (i.e. "First Press Limited Edition") while the 2D version is the standard "Limited Edition" ("初回限定生産") Blu-ray and DVD set that Warner Japan puts out for most new releases. Yes, I prefer the Japanese English title as well. And I agree that this was a very good film and one that deserved better a bigger box office take in the US.

Is it bad that I pre-ordered the 2D version when it dropped in price today, for this very reason?
Although, I'm 100% prepared for the disc not being a dedicated Japanese disc with a Japanese specific title card, being Warner and all. |

Covert art updates:
![]() ![]() ![]() Audio and subtitles (via Amazon): English: DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 Japanese: Dolby Digital 5.1 English and Japanese subtitles So all signs point to this disc being sold in other territories as well. As expected, probably not Japanese exclusive presentation. Last edited by McCrutchy; 09-01-2014 at 03:14 AM. |

Wouldn't it be cool if the film's menu or even title card (if it has one; a lot of films show their titles at the end nowadays) had "All You Need Is Kill" instead of "Edge Of Tomorrow"...
Screw it, they'll probably say LIVE. DIE. REPEAT. |

If the encode is no better than the European editions, and still even says 'Edge of Tomorrow' during the film it makes me glad I got it the way I did even more.
The exclusivity and title impress but I am fine having the US steel customized to include the 3D disc. Total cost for me (after removing DC/DVD) and adding 3D disc was around $19. |
