HD copies at Flixster

So I noticed that Flixster's d2d service offers HD copies on movies that do not currently have HD streams available anywhere (including Flixster) from what I can tell. Movies like Dead Ringers, Deadly Friend, The Opposite of Sex, etc.... I decided to test it out with Dead Ringers and it does add to your UV library as HD. This might be a good way to get HD rights for those people who don't want to D2D an SD movie until it gets HDX at Vudu. That way you can have an SD copy while you impatiently wait Too bad no 1/2 off discount at flixster. A few I've noticed (Haven't added them all though):

Dead Ringers
Deadly Friend
The Orphanage
The Opposite of Sex
My Stepmother is an Alien
Jet Li's The One

I'm sure there are plenty more.

That's crazy. I had no idea that the Opposite of Sex was available in HD anywhere. Is it 1080p? How does it look? Is it UVVU?

It's not available anywhere yet. This is just a way to get it added to your UV account in HD so it ports over whenever Vudu, CN or Flixster get HD streaming rights to it. There are people who won't disc to digital a Standard Def movie because they don't want to have to pay again once the movie gets an HD encode. This is just a way to get around that though you have to live without the Vudu discount.

On the negative side, you are paying for something that may take a long time (or never) happen.
On the positive side, you get the SD version to watch while you wait.

As far as I know, it's never had an HD restoration, unfortunately. It's the only movie in my entire collection that I don't own an HD version of.
