United Kingdom Cyborg (88 Films) Blu-ray - August 16th, 2021

Quote:
88 Films Announcement for July #2 - Cyborg

Deteriorating from social anarchy deadly plague, 21st-Century America is descending into a seething barbaric nightmare. Only Pearl Prophet (Dayle Haddon), a beautiful half human/half cyborg, has the knowledge necessary to develop a vaccine. But during her desperate quest to gather data and bring the cure to the world, Pearl is captured by cannibalistic Flesh Pirates who plot to keep the antidote for themselves and rule the world! Now, only the awesome fighting skills of sabre-wielding hero Gibson Rickenbacker (Van Damme) can rescue her and save whats left of civilisation.

Directed by Alert Pyun (Dollman), 88 Films is proud to present a new 2K scan of this Van Damme Classic.

It's worth noting that the Shout release looks worse than the older MGM release, so 88 Films need to watch out for that.

88 Films are really going for it with the Van Damme back catalogue. I wonder if Bloodsport is too much to ask for ; It's with Warner in the U.S.

I guess we may get Double Impact.
Be nice if 101 Films' licence ran out and we could get AWOL/Lionheart & Death Warrant from 88.
Not sure what other MGM and Sony titles there are they could get except more DTV.

If they could make a special edition of Double Impact similar to MVD blu-ray that would be great ; seems like the next logical choice as far as "vintage" Van Damme is concerned.

An I the only who keeps confusing 101 Films with 88 Films? I always think they are the same company.

I'm really hoping for Inferno/Desert Heat at some point.

Death Warrant would be a good one for 88 to get.

Would also be happy to see Desert Heat added to the line-up. Will only be double dipping on Cyborg if it has different extras to the Scream Factory release. Really hoping for The Director’s Cut but I doubt it’ll happen. If 88 can get the rights to Bloodsport and Kickboxer I’d be over the moon.

Might pick this up but I only recently got the Shout Factory version so it would have to offer something meaningful that Shout's release doesn't.
A DTV Van-Damme title that's not too bad is Second in Command. Wouldn't mind a Blu of that.
Does anybody know if all of 88's Van Damme titles improve over the older Blu-rays? When I got Replicant I still had the old Sony disc to compare it to and 88's was a huge improvement. Maximum Risk looked the same but I was going from memory as I had already sold the old one.

If they can do a reframing of The Quest i'll buy it again because too much picture is missing on the current HD master. It's with 101 Films at the moment... I think it will never happen.
