Apparently this will air on BBC HD sometime early this year?
Trailer: There is a sample 3D clip up here on youtube: I thought this show was a bit meh in 2D but play that clip on a projector screen in 3D and those dinosaurs suddenly look like they are standing in front of you. Nice pop-out as well on the Spinosaurus. Any word on whether this is coming to Blu? Last edited by Captain Jack; 03-10-2012 at 01:35 PM. |

I pre-ordered it, a tenner is alright for some 3D dino-action (with no talking heads, yay!). I think this title, just going off that preview will have some pretty strong 3D, because that Spinosaurus snout alone had a good degree of pop-out. |

If anyone sees the full show, I wonder if it's all dinosaurs or if there's a mix of scientists doing archeology and talking onscreen, as in Dinosaurs Giants of Patagonia 3D, which has strong 3D, but is mainly a documentary. When is a new Jurassic Park coming out in 3D? Maybe this is the next best thing. |

I love dinosaurs, but they haven't been treated too good in the 3D world so far. I hope this breaks the trend of weak dinosaur releases.

It had some nice shots, but there was too much filler in it. There must've been 10 minutes worth of aerial shots. The 3D was done well. I just thought the content couldve been a lot better.

I think the nature/science Imax type movies are notorious for the boring fly overs. |

Being all cg, maybe Planet Dinosaur won't need pointless filler shots. |

Planet dinosaur did have these schematic overlay shots, which whilst informative were a little annoying, but I wonder if in the 3D version they will be gone, because the 3D version takes the six 30 min episodes and converts them into one 50 minute doco, so in theory they had 3 hours of CG shots to choose from. To that end I'm expecting wall to wall 3D dinosaurs and only the finest cuts of 3D animation from the series, at least I hope so!

I remember in the 90's there was a documentary on TV that was 100% CGI dinosaur content. Forget the name of that one. Long time ago. It was good though, it started off in a forest, and there were some velociraptor type dinos stealing eggs or going on a hunt. No humans in it at all. ![]() Quote:
Some of the Dinosaur Statue shots of TRex in the museum at night, are in 2D and just pushed in for depth only, no layers of 3D, like they forgot to turn on the other camera. Literally. Quote:
